My wife and I just got to town and wanted a cup of coffee before heading to our Airbnb. We’ve been to Sanford before and so knew we’d get a good drink at Foxtail. We had lattes. They’re good, but get to you awfully hot, so you need to let them sit a couple minutes before enjoying.

I’ve always appreciated coming here to study, and the staff are lovely, but it’s interesting how the music always seems to be turned up… its impressive that they maintain such consistency! R&B and rap are… certainly energetic, though perhaps not the best for a quiet, focused environment. I guess not everyone comes here to get work done, but for those of us who do, it’s a bit distracting. Perhaps someday they’ll consider a playlist that balances both crowds.

The coffee is literally always extremely sweet to the point of it being inedible. I work right up the street so it’s nice to have a coffee shop so close but this place does not know how to make coffee.

This morning I ordered a cortadito with an extra double shot. I was handed my drink in the little shot glass. I politely asked the female barrista if my drink had the extra double shot and she rudely said yes. I said the math isn’t mathing and before I could explain, she cut me off and said “I can remake it and you can stand there and watch me.” Instead of meeting her condescending tone with my tone, I said no, I had to leave.
Now a cortadito is ” Equal parts espresso and steamed milk with
whisked sugar. 4oz shot” an extra shot is 2oz. So 4oz + 2oz = 6oz of liquid. The little shot glass is 4oz. Now I’m just a c student but a 4oz cup will not hold 6oz of liquid. As I said. The math isn’t mathing. The fact it was wrong doesn’t bother me. The rude nature of this barrista WHILE doubling down that she made it correctly when she didn’t, is the problem. The jaded coffee shop attitude was cool in the 90’s In Seattle. Not today, in Heathrow. Don’t take your bad attitude out on the customer’s.
Next time I experience this with her, I will “stand there and watch as she makes it (in)correctly.”
We will sit there and learn some science.
For reference it was 9/18/25 @ 730am. The female employee, not the male. He’s always been nice.
