The menudo really is great — I’ll give them that. But unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for me.
I’ve bought tamales here three different times, and twice when I ordered half a dozen rajas con queso, I was given chicken instead. I live in Thornton, so driving all the way back to fix their mistake wasn’t realistic. I ended up stuck with tamales I didn’t even want.
Customer service is another big issue. The cashiers are cold and unfriendly, and there’s just no warmth or attentiveness. I’ve tried calling ahead multiple times to avoid the long wait, but they never answer the phone. One time, I kept calling while driving there, only to find out their ringer was turned off — and there were only two customers inside.
On my last visit, I waited 48 minutes just to pick up two bowls of menudo.
The food may be good, but no one should have to deal with rude service, constant order mistakes, and excessive wait times just to enjoy a decent meal.

Pretty sure my husband’s card was skimmed here. Made a purchase this am then like 3 hours later someone tried to make a purchase a couple miles down Quebec thank god he had alerts for fraud set up so we were able to cancel card fast. Great food but I will never use a card here again. (Only purchase of the day soooooooo)

I mean they are really good tamales… if you like just masa, theres like hardly little to no meat in these which is sad cause the taste is quite nice. After reading other reviews ive decided to lower my score cause others are commenting the same thing “just masa”

Only have this as a takeaway from a coworker… But everything’s been pretty darn good at what seems to be a really decent price. Just had the bacon breakfast burrito for the first time today and it was Great. I’ve only tried one or two tamales but those were pretty delicious as well and I hear a very good price!

Tamales by Sara sells the best tamales (especially the red pork and spicy cheese and jalapeño) and most delicious and clean Menudo in the metro area, seeing a busy and welcoming family ran business is a clear indication of delicious and authentic Mexican food, my family and I loved it and highly recommend it if you want to enjoy “REAL” Mexican cuisine!

I’ve been coming to Sara’s Tamales for about three years, and up until recently the tamales were always delicious. Unfortunately, the last three visits have been very disappointing. The red tamales have been mostly masa—dry, with hardly any meat. The green chile and cheese tamales have had almost no cheese and barely any green chile flavor to even taste.More Masa !!
The prices have gone up while the quality has gone downhill, and it’s upsetting because I work hard for my money and expect to receive what I pay for. As an owner, they should take pride in what is being served to customers, but lately I don’t see that reflected in the food or the customer service, which has become noticeably unfriendly.

Tamales have an ok taste. They have too much masa if you only use one leaf with less masa make it even with the meat they would be perfect!!! You would have more i mean more people buying them.

What a great neighborhood gem!! We have visited this local restaurant three times in two weekends for breakfast and each time-it was delicious!! You have to visit for sure. Inside seating is minimal so go early or order take out.

The food is SO good and so are the prices. We had tamales, burritos, tortas, and the muendo. Everything has amazing flavors!! The staff are all friendly and the restaurant stays busy!!
