Finally found a truly authentic South Indian restaurant around Portsmouth — and it genuinely felt like home on a plate.
Every dish was packed with real, nostalgic flavour. The biriyanis were rich and aromatic, the chilli chicken had the perfect spice kick, and the chicken and lamb liver were cooked just right. And of course, their chicken fried rice is officially my forever favourite here.
If you’re anywhere near Portsmouth and missing that proper homely South Indian taste, I would absolutely recommend this place without a second thought. ❤️

I really love the food here the flavors are delicious, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. I’ve noticed that when the restaurant is very busy, the taste can sometimes feel a little different, maybe because the kitchen is under a lot of pressure. But when it’s not too crowded, the dishes are excellent, and you can really taste the care in the cooking. Overall, it’s a lovely place that I always enjoy visiting.
* The only thing is the chai and chicken lollipop that the portion size was a bit small.

The biryani was incredibly flavourful with perfect aroma, and the paneer tikka was soft, well-marinated, and delightfully smoky.A great Indian restaurant—rich spices, fresh ingredients, and dishes that taste truly authentic, especially the biryani and paneer tikka.

Food was tasty, traditional and great, we had all the veggie options, dosas, thalis, idli, pani puri. Unfortunately the service was slow, waited and had to be asked for everything and the decor was very basic, loos broken, and generally dirty looking.

We tried Namaste in Portsmouth this afternoon with the family, and I just have to share how lovely the whole experience was. I’ll admit, I’m always a bit nervous about trying new places – especially ones that say they’re “authentic” Indian. But from the moment we walked in, all those doubts disappeared. The space is cozy, clean, and beautifully kept, and the staff is warm and welcoming. As a vegetarian, I was really happy with the variety on the menu. What impressed me even more was how accommodating they were with our little one’s dietary needs—no gluten, no dairy, no nuts. The chef went out of their way to prepare something just right for us, which honestly meant the world. It’s not easy eating out with specific requirements, but they made it feel effortless.
The food itself was delicious. The starters and mains were full of flavour, with spices perfectly balanced—tasty and authentic, but still gentle enough for the kids to enjoy. We loved it so much that by the end of lunch, we had already decided to order dinner from there too!
Such a wonderful find. If you’re in Portsmouth and craving proper Indian food made with care, Namaste is definitely worth a visit.

Tried the chicken mandi here and it was amazing. The chicken was slow-cooked, soft, and full of flavour, and the rice had the perfect balance of spices without being overpowering. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. highly recommended for mandi lovers.

The place where I first felt the taste and flavour of authentic Indian foods and atmosphere, the time I spent there last night was very special because of their seren environment and delicious food. I tried multiple Indian restaurants in UK before this one and on search of authentic Indian taste, but they all were faking. But this time I found this Namaste in my area (south sea Portsmouth) where i found that taste what I experienced once in India, not exactly but I can say its authentic. I am glad I can fill my tummy with good food and vibing with in there spiritual serenade. Love it❤️❤️❤️
