Inside Out Run Club
Inside Out Run Club hosted a birthday bRUNch on the Nautical Mile which started with a 5k run/walk and ended with brunch at the legendary Backyard BBQ. We had a blast!

The coordination leading up to the event was smooth with multiple check-ins/emails and clear communication. In our case, we collected funds from out guests ahead to keep things easy.

On event day, we enjoyed our run/walk on a beautiful Sunday and then about 20 of us hopped right into the restaurant. There were lovely custom menus which was a pleasant surprise but really showed the care taken for this event. We waited just a bit to provide our respective orders to our servers but then our beverages were served, and the fun ensued!

A DJ was there which was not expected but added a nice touch. She (yes SHE ) played all the hits which included multiple birthday shout outs. The restaurant event came out with sparklers and a custom Happy Birthday sign for our celebrant!

Food was greeeat (yum empanadas, fish and grits and that bread pudding was ON point!!!) and we were able to relax and enjoy our event without being rushed out.

Inside Out Run Club really appreciated hosting this special event at Backyard BBQ. Check us out on IG @InsideOutRunClub to join us at out next workout, community or social event!

I’m gonna be honest. I believe this place is hit or miss because this was my first time going and I don’t believe I had their food on a good day. I ordered the baked clams which were okay. The fried fish didn’t taste fresh, the macaroni and cheese was just okay, the baked beans were good, & I really loved the corn bread. I also had their collard greens empanadas those were good as well. My family had their fish and grits and said the grits tasted sweet and smoky which they didn’t like. Some of the food wasn’t available or ready when I wanted to order it which happens when restaurants are transitioning from brunch to dinner. The atmosphere is nice , they had a really good DJ playing great music. I encourage everyone to experience it for themselves but in my honest opinion it was just okay.

The wings are delicious. I ordered the clams, they were good. I would have preferred fried over baked. The catfish sliders were delicious. Drink nice and strong. Great vibes on a Sunday afternoon they have a DJ. Overall I recommend. Their bbq is also amazing

I’ll start with the positive. Nice, local vibe with lots of potential. Unfortunately the food is sub par at best. Most of the 1 star reviews are spot on. With all the options available to patrons on the nautical mile this eatery needs a make over to be an ongoing consideration. Decent service and the DJ was great. Rooting for them to level up.

I was super excited to try @chef_kware ‘s food menu and wow! Thanks to my friend Nyeima for treating me to a flavorful evening & introducing me to Chef Ware.

Ok, so! I love trying foods that have a unique take and those wings were everythingggg
They tasted fried/baked, sweet, sticky & not too salty.. so perfect. So was the fried chicken with the Cajun rub and honey drizzle … insane lol
I love yams and those were definitely really tasty
The baked clams were good, I personally would like them to be broiled a bit to create solid crust. That would actually do it for me, I love a crunch.

The fish shrimp and grits is a very nice meal
The grits are perfect and I don’t eat grits from everyone … yea!

Let’s not forget the DJ!
The DJ is fire, he played good music back to back to back. We barely noticed we were there for 2 1/2 hours he made us forget about the wait and he made food taste better. No lies told!

Went there with a few fellas from the church and we was all impressed. Family vibes from the door. The honey lemon pepper wings is a must have. Main courses did not let us down. Definitely a go to spot for some great barbecue.

The go-to spot on the nautical mile for legit southern cooking!! First off, the owner, Kenny is amazing! And so are his staff. Now, the food?! we had an array of chicken, the ribsss, baked Mac & cheese, yamsss & collard greens! The catfish sandwich was also we also appreciated the cocktails (not watered down) & the booth seating was comfy!

Small place. Cute but simple decor. Could use a few repairs though. The booth we sat at had a hole in the top of the table. Bathroom was super clean! (Very important to me)

Server was bomb! very knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly, and not overbearing.

Food was good for the most part and portioned correctly. The lemon pepper wings were SO flavorful! Legit best LP wings I’ve ever had. My only food critiques are the potato salad texture was too mushy for my liking, like mashed potatoes, I prefer a chunkier salad. The collard greens were fresh but needed a little sugar to cut the bitterness of the greens, oil, smoked turkey, garlic, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, and to be cooked down for about 10–15 more minutes. The Mac and cheese was not good…at all. It was giving blue box vibes and it is not baked. They need an entire new recipe for that ASAP. Everything else pictured was on point including the drinks (they serve alcohol).

FYI- gratuity of 18% is automatically included but I didn’t mind that at all because the service was good. In fact I gave an extra tip on top of that just because of the service.

I would visit again. Give them a try!

Service was a little slow but the vibe was nice. This was my second time back. The food is delicious! It took some time to get to the table but it was worth the wait. The wings are fried to perfection! They aren’t over cooked or under cooked. Seasoned just right! You can tell they actually cook and fry their wings. It’s not like other places where they use an air fryer. The waffles were light and fluffy and the fruit on top added just the right amount of sweetness. The DJ was spinning the tunes! A mix of everything from R&B, or Afro beats, Reggae, etc … I forgot my server’s name but he was sweet and could handle the tables because it started to get a little busy after 4pm. I look forward to coming back and trying more menu options for brunch and dinner. I highly recommend this place for a date night, solo and family outing

Backyard Barbeque is a homey spot on the Nautical Mile. Definitely nothing fancy, the place is pretty well worn, and has a sweet mural on the walls. The team is all super friendly and helpful, and happy to recommend their specials.

The drinks are pretty solid, and the food was really good. I tried one of each of the tacos they have, which were all good. The star of the show is absolutely the brisket. It was pretty freaking spectacular, extremely soft, super flavorful rub and meat, and so dang delicious.

Highly recommended to swing by for the brisket!
