Social Profile:

We come from a small desert town in southern Oaxaca where we grew up farming, caring for livestock, and selling at the colorful daily markets in the towns surrounding our home. Our mother was an expert cook and passed along not only her recipes and creativity but respect for the best ingredients available. Our Father has always had his own small Plalenque (Distillery) and produced the same Mezcales that have been made in his family for generations. One by one we settled in the NYC area, working in restaurants, bars, bakeries etc. After 25 years of working and saving we’re opening Caza Azul. Here we hope to carry on our parents passions of the best of creative Oaxacan cuisine and unique Mezcales. We hope you enjoy

The steak on the menu and the grilled octopus are a must. The steak was cooked perfectly and was so soft it was the best I’ve ever had. The octopus was so tender and flavorful oh and the green razor margaritas was good!

Food is delicious and drinks are interesting and tasty. A lot of the drinks are clarified which I love – so smooth. The mole chicken enchiladas are my favorite and they have $5 chips and salsa on happy hour.

Love this neighborhood spot! We have been many times, and it’s great for a casual weekend dinner or to celebrate with tequila flights. The fish tacos are some of the bestttt I’ve ever had, the enchiladas are delicious, and the cocktails are great. Highly recommend!

It’s such a great spot. Flavors and sauces are so good. Drinks are really interesting and tasty, and both a feast for the eyes as well as your tastebuds. They serve their chips warm with your guacamole. I always get their tacos de pescado, but this time, it was soggy. I think it might have sat too long waiting for the rest of the order to come, which might have been our fault. It’s always been super crispy. Even while soggy, the fish still was flavorful, and I love the sauce for it. They make pretty good mocktails too, that taste like cocktails, not just a fruit juice. It’s always such a treat to come here.

Might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant in NY. Oaxacan focused food presented in a beautiful space. Everything was fantastic: the flautas to start (delicious), the mole was fantastic – almost like what I’ve had in Mexico, the carne asada was cooked to perfection and served with an amazing sauce. Drinks are fantastic too.

Definitely recommend to all

So happy I finally checked this place out! Casa Azul has immediately become a Park Slope favorite. Everything I have tried has been excellent. I especially recommend their quesadilla as a starter and for mains the Branzino , and their Carne Asada was divine! We were served twice by Pamela who is absolutely the kindest and gives helpful recommendations. Benito and Diego are amazing as well- cocktails are the best. Tried Mexican sake for the first time, with their Nami Spritz which I claim as the drink of the summer. Definitely give this place a try!

A poetic ode to Frida Kahlo and Oaxaca, Mexico, this restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy traditional Mexican food and drink. We enjoyed the table d’hôte of the day, a tamale inspired starter, a rich and flavourful pozole soup for main course, a very tasty ice cream confection for dessert, followed by a Mexican coffee delightfully laced with cinnamon and brown sugar. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented with every care taken to maintain authenticity. The drinks, too, were fabulous. I highly recommend the margarita piquante which I think was my favourite; just the right blend of lime and chile. The wait staff was attentive and the manager was on hand, stopping by our table to say hello, answer questions about the menu and to ensure we were enjoying our experience. Despite our choosing the fixed menu, I did notice the menu is quite extensive with everything from tacos and quesadillas to seafood and fine traditional Mexican cuisine. I also noticed they have a party room downstairs for large groups. Overall it was a wonderful experience, I could not fault them on food, service or atmosphere. In fact I’m already planning a return visit!

You one of those days parking goods shine on you and you go to an amazing event at the Prospect Park bandshell and you are tired but not quite ready to end the evening and that is how we ended up at Casa Azul and it was an awesome end to an amazing day out. The food was amazing the drinks was lovely the service was great. All across an A++++day. Btw way you know the food is on point when u just want to have more but you are so full you have them pack the leftovers which was the sauce from the land stew dish and two tortillas for a midnight snack and it really was just as good the second time around minus the ambiance and company
