There are lots of menu selections that would please the Mexican food lover on all levels, from common to near gourmet.
Our server, Anna, did a perfect job of juggling our orders of six diners expertly.
Upstairs, the Whiskey Hotel, looks like a good watering hole, but is open (presently) open only on Fridays and Saturdays. We’ll come back to check it out.
Happy Hour lasts until 6:00 PM and you can get those tasty Tequila cocktails and small plates at a good price.
Worth a visit or two. Recommended, y’all.
FOOD> I was craving a bowl of Mexican sopa de pollo and fancy myself a connoisseur of the Upstate offerings, but THIS was a unique Tex Mex spin!
It was almost as if pozole and Tex Mex married and bore the most dilectible culinary creation The meal began with warm chips and some delicious fresh salsa authentica. Then came the sopa! The roasted chicken and fire roasted corn swam in a rich broth that had some very pleasant heat that rose from the back of the flavor combination.
The irresistible sopa was topped off with a fresh avocado cilantro, fried tortilla strips, and a sprinkle of cotija cheese which added a creamy cooling effect and perfectly balanced the other ingredients.
SERVICE> Anna was a dream and the entire dining experience was absolutely amazing from the warm reception to genuine care during our lunch and feeling like I had known Anna forever.
Everyone was so friendly and working hard to give me better than expected service.
ATMOSPHERE> Gorgeous and well appointed warm rustic southwestern decor with rich wood, iron, and leather along with some bold touches of color from cinco de mayo art work.

VALUE> Since this made two meals EXCELLENT value!
THIS personal interaction and care is what I look for in a dining experience even when I choose something quick – it is HOT, FRESH, VERY GENEROUS PORTIONS (with something for every person’s eating preference) AND SOOOO DELICIOUS.
There in house salsa is probably one of my top 3, it’s definitely got a kick to it but that’s what I like about it. The wife got a couple of there specialty margaritas and didn’t have a complaint on either. We got the nachos to share and I’ll tell you right now, there huge. I got the quesadilla and she got the street tacos. She said the street tacos were a little dry and a little bland. And we noticed the same thing with the nachos. They were still very good. I definitely reccomend the Matador.
