We had dinner at Bavaria on Sunday evening after walking around downtown Pensacola. It was interesting as the front of the restaurant was a German bar and the rear a pizzeria. We were greeted by staff and sat at our table quickly. Our server was friendly and informative. We ordered a giant pretzel as an appetizer, but unfortunately it did not arrive until after our food had arrived and our server did not realize it. He said someone in the kitchen had marked it as served. When I said we really wanted it as an appetizer was told oh it will warm up good. We were visiting and staying at a hotel so did not have a good way to reheat so just ended up throwing it away. The pretzel was average and we could tell it was a frozen and not freshly made one. We also ordered a pizza (I forgot to take a photo) and it was good. It was cooked in an open wood fire and was fresh. I ordered the fig and goat cheese burger and it was so DELICIOUS!!! Definitely recommend ordering that! My son had the bacon cheese burger but for him the pretzel bun was too much bread. Overall a good choice for dinner.

Bavaria is one of our favorite places in Pensacola to dine when we’re in town. We always go there for a great meal and some great beers. The food is so close to what I got when I was stationed in Germany that I can’t tell the difference, and the beers are out of this world. The staff is always friendly and always takes great care of us. And we can never leave without buying a pretzel to go to take home with us to have later down the road. We always try something new, and this time we decided to split a bacon beer cheese schnitzel with mashed potatoes. It was so good that we ordered a second one to go so that we could split it when we got back to town on my wife’s first work night back to work that way we wouldn’t have to mess around with cooking dinner. While there’s not a main parking lot for the restaurant, there’s plenty of parking around and if you go on Sunday the paid parking is free. Our server this time was Vivian and she was outstanding! For dessert we had the apple strudel and it was out of this world! When I lived in Germany I lived in an apartment above a bakery and every morning I would go down and get a strudel to have with my coffee and this one was every bit as good as what I got in Germany . After our meal we sat and chatted with the manager for about 10 minutes and had a great conversation with her as well. So if you lived in Pensacola or you are traveling to Pensacola and you love good German food and beers, do not pass up Bavaria Pensacola, you will regret missing out.

A friend told us about this place but we were a bit hesitant reading some of the reviews BUT so glad we decided to eat here!! First, Bella our server could not have been nicer. Her recommendations were spot on for every thing. Wife had an espresso martini with raspberry foam, and it was the first time she ever loved an espresso martini (Bella recommended). I got the NY Strip Garlic Parm Spätzle and nailed it! Wife got the pork Jägerschnitzel and loved it. The mini pretzel with the spicy mustard was a great appetizer. Atmosphere was spot on. Can’t wait to go back!!

Absolutely delightful pizza dinner and honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had! The piggy panic was delish with the protein varieties and hot honey. The Sophia Loren also so tasty with fresh veggies. I am so impressed!
The vibes are very cute—German town inspired, paired with German beers, ofc!
The service was pretty good even though it was busy. Kinda funny though because I think the server was a bit too flirty with some tables (he would sit on their bench and talk to people ).
Definitely worth a try if in Pensacola and I’d love to come back!
9.5/10

Vibrant downtown Pensecola location. Always enjoy coming here! Phenomenal German restaurant this side of the Atlantic, I lived in Germany four years! The Jägerschnitzel is amazing as is the Gulaschsuppe! They even have good pizza! The portions are huge! Atmosphere has a bier garten vibe!

We’ve always walked by Bavaria Pensacola saying, “One day we’re going to stop and eat there,” and this time we finally did—and we’re glad we did. The atmosphere was charming, and the uniforms on the staff were cute and fit the vibe perfectly.
What really stood out, though, was the over-the-top service. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which alone makes us want to come back. The food was good overall, but the real surprise was the German Chocolate Cake.
It wasn’t overly presented or flashy, but wow—light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. Never in all my years have I had a German Chocolate Cake that wasn’t heavy. When I think of German Chocolate Cake, I usually picture something dense and rich (think Matilda’s Ms. Trunchbull chocolate cake). This one was the complete opposite in the best way possible. It was light, perfectly sweet, and hit that exact dessert sweet spot we all hope to achieve.
Definitely worth stopping in, and we won’t be walking by saying “next time” anymore—we’ll be coming back.

We went as a family of 5. Three kids under 7. Honestly, Not an ideal place for kids. No kid menu either and seating was bench seating. Food was decent but expensive! We spent $250. We did grab 2 pizzas to go and had a goulash, but still very expensive for 2 adults, 7, 4, and 2 year old. Food was a bit salty. My husband is German and grew up there, so he’s picky with German food. He thought it was mediocre. I enjoyed the night off from cooking, but for the money spent, I could have made that all for a huge fraction of the cost. It wasn’t terrible, but I don’t know if it is a place we would return to.

What a fantastic venue, the food was amazing and the staff was so awesome. Prices are a big high for a local. You have to try the pizza and jumbo pretzel. The German dishes are a great selection. I served in Germany for three years so their All great!

Absolutely outstanding… This is the Jaegerschnitzel and a Celebratory Doppelbock. They even have a phenomenal brick oven pizza option if you don’t want traditional German food. It was awesome.

Vivian was a phenomenal waitress! There was a mix up with my husbands food and she fixed it quickly and efficiently. Her bubbly personality was a delight and a warm welcome. The NY strip garlic parm spatzle was phenomenal!
