I called ahead to make sure they had empanadas, and they told me they did. When I arrived, I ordered two and was told it would be about five minutes. After waiting 15 minutes, the staff came out and told me they were actually sold out. At that point, I just asked for a refund.

They refunded the cost of the food, but the tip I had left was not returned—even though I ended up waiting about 25 minutes and received nothing. It felt really frustrating to tip for an order that never happened. I have the receipt showing that only the food portion was refunded.

Overall, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish, and I left feeling like my time wasn’t valued at all.

I came all the way from Miami to Coral Springs just to try the amazing Mexican food at La Union 2 and it was totally worth it! The birria tacos and chicken tostada were soooo good! Daniela, the Colombian waitress, was super nice and friendly. She took great care of me and made the visit even better. A big applause to the chef, Rogelio, for cooking with so much love you can taste it in every bite! The food, the service, and the vibe were all perfect. I’ll definitely be back!

If you’re craving authentic Mexican cuisine bursting with flavor, this restaurant is a must-visit. They offer delicious dishes at great prices, and their fruit waters made from real fruit are simply divine. I appreciate that the food is always fresh, with noticeably crisp vegetables. It’s the closest thing to dining in Mexico that I’ve found so far. Highly recommended

La Union 2 → El Carnal (Margate)

This location was originally a Mexican restaurant owned by a family friend, later taken over by the Nieto family as the second La Union location. While the food was consistently good, it never achieved the same following or momentum as the original Wiles Road (Coral Springs) location or the North Lauderdale (#3) branch owned by Sra. Nieto’s grandson, Javier Camacho.

In October 2025, ownership transferred to other family friends, and the restaurant was rebranded as El Carnal under new manager Lolita. The menu and kitchen staff remain unchanged, and they continue sourcing baked goods from La Union Bakery. The new ownership plans to expand the menu with new takeout options. The Nieto family continues to operate the two other La Union locations and focus on their grocery/bodega business in Coral Springs.

I’m not sure if this is the same folks as “Taqueria El Canal” with multiple locations in Miami, because the logo is different.

La Union Margate. I frequently go to this location rather than the original on Wiles Road, only a mile away, because it has more seating and a bigger kitchen that can offer more things. I do notice that they get less breakfast traffic, so if you come in on a late Saturday or Sunday morning, it will be nowhere near as crowded as the original location. I originally tried to go to the Wiles one — and with the Dia de los Muertos holiday approaching many people were lined up, trying to buy baked goods and also the tables were filled with people waiting for takeout at the original so I immediately turned and went to the Margate one.

I ordered a chorizo and egg torta sandwich, which was excellent as usual. Rachel got a Sope con Barbacoa and also we ordered a Champurrado which is a type of atole (corn-thickened) hot chocolate drink with spices. Traditionally, this is served with churros or bread for dipping. Churros that are served here are actually Dulce de Leche so the interior gets a wetter texture even when it is hard fried, so just be aware of that.

First time here. The plaza is big so its easy to miss, kind of in the cut. Food was !! Great prices too. Had the birria tacos which came with rice- I added avocado, refried beans, and a jarritos soda for a total of $23. Plus I had leftovers Will definitely be back. The waitress was very attentive and sweet as well.

5 1/2 years living in South Florida and FINALLY I found real tacos, not the overdone whatever it is that other places call a taco. I ordered 3 steak tacos. It all starts with the tortilla – handmade corn tortillas of the perfect thickness. The carne was cooked and seasoned (lightly) perfectly. Grilled onion and cilantro with lime and their salsa verde! I’ve been to plenty of taquerias in south Texas and calles del taco on the other side of the border and these are great!!! Price was incredibly inexpensive. I gave 5 stars for ambiance; keep in mind it is a taqueria and should be casual and relaxed which it is. Keepin’ it real, no kickbacks.

Authentic mexican restaurant, you can find delicious and authentic mexican food, casual, good service. I’ve been going to the original one (La Union Bakery) for many years and never has disappointed me, neither la Union Bakery II, I love their enchiladas, this time I asked for a enchiladas “divorciadas” which has green and red sauce. If you like note spicy they got you. Also I have to add their bread is really good, concha’s, pan de muerto, rosca de reyes are my favorites. And they also serve Micheladas, beer with spicy sauces and lime.

Very close to the real thing. Most dishes here are true to authentic Mexican food. I have tried Quesabirria tacos and Carne Tampiqueña. Both are good. I also tried chorizo, but I was not impressed as the flavor was too bland.
Agua de horchata drink was good, but a bit too sweet.
The place offer something called “frulados”, which is not Mexican at all, but still a good option for dessert.
I was pleased with the service and prices are reasonable.
