We were really hoping a good Mexican restaurant would open a little closer to home, but we left a bit disappointed with Tenango’s in Flat Rock. Our server was great — friendly and attentive — so no complaints there. We ordered one steak fajita and one skirt steak entrée. Unfortunately, neither dish had much seasoning, and both cuts were on the chewy side. Skirt steak is naturally tougher, but my plate was listed as the outside cut, which should be a bit more tender when prepared properly.
The presentation, as you can see, was very nice. The chips and warm bean dip were a good start, but the salsa bar felt limited with only three or four options. Portion sizes were reasonable for the price. The atmosphere was okay, but the bright lighting made it feel more like a fast‑casual spot — dimming the lights a bit would go a long way.
Prices ran a little higher than what we typically pay at our other favorite local Mexican restaurants. And like many places now, there was an added 4% credit‑card fee on the bill. I didn’t notice it mentioned on the menu — maybe I missed it — but this is exactly why the state is voting on requiring these fees to be clearly disclosed. Since most customers pay with a card, the menu prices should reflect the true cost, with a discount offered for cash instead of a surprise surcharge. What’s next — extra charges for plates, napkins, utensils, water?
As a retired business owner, I understand how tough fluctuating expenses can be, but transparency matters. If there’s going to be a 4% upcharge for using a credit card, it should be clearly stated.

I had the burrito maria and it was delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is family friendly. They even have a robot server that plays music!! Our server Job was delightful. He was attentive to every detail of our meal. I recommend and will definitely be back.

Worth trying for anyone coming past the British bridge over 85 in Duncan, food is good, portions are massive. I am not sure what it looks like when busy but service was excellent and cleanliness is well maintained.

My fiancé and I recently came in for dinner, and I want to start by saying the food was absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious, and our server was wonderfulvery attentive, polite, and made sure we had a great dining experience.
However, there was one issue that really stood out and made us uncomfortable. I asked our server for the name of a young lady working there, and he said her name was Michelle. Throughout our dinner, she was yelling at her coworkers and speaking to them very disrespectfully. It was unprofessional and not something customers should have to witness while trying to enjoy their meal.
As a business owner myself, I understand how important professionalism and teamwork are, especially in front of customers. Unfortunately, this behavior left a negative impression on us. My family and I will not be returning if this kind of environment continues.
Again, the food and our server were excellent, but management may want to address professionalism among staff to ensure customers feel comfortable and welcomed. She should no longer be there.

This is hands down the best Mexican food around. The menu has something for everyone. We have tried so many things in the menu and everything has been delicious! Tenangos Nachos, Shrimp Cucaracha, Ximena, El Texanto, Carnitas, Street Tacos, Poblano Shrimp Tacos, Chicken Salad, Burritos Maria, Steak Tenangos. Everything is always flavored perfectly and cooked precisely! Presentation and flavor is always spot on! Portions are huge and some meals we share. There is a salsa bar with a variety of salsas to choose from. Made from scratch and delicious! Great selection of drinks to choose from. The Cadillac Margarita and the Michelada are fantastic! The restaurant is always clean. The staff and service here are exceptional! Everyone here takes pride in their job and it shows! Ronald, Roman, Sergio,Julie, Faith, Brian, Stella, exceptional! Always top notch service, and friendly! This is hands down our favorite place to eat. Not only is the food the best but so is the atmosphere and the staff! Can’t say enough positive things about our this place!
