Edit: This restaurant has improved. I like the new menu, the food tastes better and the service is great.
It’s nice that they had live music when we went but it seemed like there was no air conditioning and like the room was smoky/foggy. Also our waitress had trouble with our big group but it was mostly fine.
As for the food it was all pretty good, no complaints but it wasn’t spectacular either.
My husband and I took a chance , we never tried this food before. The restaurant wasn’t much to look at but from the moment we walked in we were greeted by a young lady she said sit wherever. So we did!
The food was delicious and she served us some yummy sauces. We had the beef empanadas which were delicious. Then our meals I had a 1/4 roasted chicken with salad rice and fries yum!!
My husband had the grilled chicken he ate it all. Definitely glad we tried it
On to the “French fries”. They were not fried (or even baked), but rather lightly steamed pieces of mushy potato cut into a fry shape. My initial thought was that they ran out of cooking oil but didn’t want to leave them out entirely since I paid for them so decided to serve them uncooked since it’s better than nothing. I even looked it up to see if, perhaps, this was how they are normally prepared in Peruvian cuisine but.. nope. Peruvian fries are indeed supposed to cooked, unlike these.
Now I did also have the Parihuela Norteña which was decent, albeit hard to mess up since it’s just mixed pieces of seafood thrown into a seafood stock. While nothing particularly special it was definitely better than the chicken and “fries”.
I’ve tried this place a few times over the years and while never terrible it was always mediocre at best, but I kept returning since I love Peruvian food and thought maybe it would be better this time. However I can’t say I’ll be back anytime soon if at all unless they go under new ownership.
See pic of “French fries” attached.
