I had dinner here tonight and I am in love. The food is so delicious, and the owner, Martin, is amazing. I have had his food at catering events previously so I knew I was in for a treat. It is a whole other experience being in the restaurant and Martin is so polite and helpful. If you don’t know what you want he will help you with suggestions and he is just such a friendly guy to be around. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

We stopped by this restaurant while passing through Peterborough and tried some tacos, soup of the day, enchiladas and choriqueso.
While the owner is very lovely and friendly, the food fell short with the soup being cold, mango salad dressing was very sweet, the tortillas being chewy, and overall the food wasn’t quite hot enough.

We ate at LaMesita for dinner after finding it on Google. I love authentic Mexican and this did not disappoint! Between us we had the Tortas w/carnitas, taco trio, enchiladas, soup of the day. All the food was delicious and well prepared! Save room for desert because the churro bomb and Mayan cupcakes are a must try. The owner was super friendly, attentive and happy to tell us about the food. If you’re looking for great authentic Mexican when in Peterborough you can’t go wrong at La Mesita. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area

My husband and I took our daughter here while visiting Peterborough. We always look for those one off mom and pop places for authentic food and this place did not disappoint. The food was flavourful, the portions large and the owner made it even better with his description of the food, the heat levels and flavours. We had tacos, enchiladas, torts, soup and then cupcakes and a churro bomb. All were amazing! We will definitely go back and recommend it to friends that frequent the area.

I thoroughly enjoy the messy and absolutely delicious tacos that I order from Martin. He is so happy, knowledgeable and excited for you to try his food. All of which he makes himself for you to enjoy. Martin is a great addition to the local markets and caters at many events that I attend. I always enjoy a quick chat prior to Martin recommending different suggestions. I love the bright colours of the food. My boyfriend and I came tonight for dinner for the first time. The owner was attentive and very friendly. The food was amazing and the owner went above and beyond bringing us little treats not on the menu.

Food it’s ok, I ordered trío tacos, tortilla is very small, torta pibil it’s good, salad good.
I asked to Waiter for salsa without mayo, because we don’t like.
I ordered a torta for my toddler, he brought me a torta with mayo with chipotle for her!!
I asked to change the torta, the guy was very mad for my requested. I listened how he was complaining inside about that.
I won’t like to come back again

Delightful atmosphere, delicious food, I had the quesadilla with corn and beans. My son got the taco trio with Barbacoa, carne asada, and carnitas he loved them all! My parents both got the chicken fajita but my mom is lactose intolerant so the cook/owner was sure to remove the cheese and served an extra salsa and also added extra veggies and meat to her fajita!
