Reviews
Glad we had a meal there but probably won’t go back as just wondering what the kitchen is like now.
The Waterfront Restaurant was our choice, & it didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing. There was an extensive menu, not only of seafood dishes, but meats, pasta, etc.
We put in an order for Pork belly, Marinara with pasta, Garlic prawns, & Marinara without pasta. It all arrived quickly & piping hot. Our dishes were so delicious, that we asked for spoons to clean up the sauces. I’ve never done that before.
It is child friendly, & there is a kids menu.
There was a choice of cakes, if cake & coffee is what you’d prefer
The service was friendly & helpful. The restaurant easy to move about in. Cash or card accepted as payment.
We parked in front of the restaurant, on the street. No parking meters, so free.
From the start, she appeared very grumpy and took our orders without any smile or basic courtesy. Our cheesecake orders were delayed, and when we politely asked about them, she responded coldly. When the plates arrived, they were placed on the table without any apology or explanation.
One of my friends politely asked if the air conditioning could be turned on, and she responded in a rude manner, saying the remote was there and that my friend could turn it on herself. This was unnecessary and showed a lack of basic customer service.
Later, around 5:30 pm, she approached our table and loudly told us, in a rude tone, that she needed the table in 10 minutes for the next booking. This could have been communicated politely, but instead it made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Overall, there was a clear lack of professionalism and frontline service skills. Her attitude ruined what was meant to be an enjoyable group coffee date.
We were planning to return for dinner with an even larger group, but after this unpleasant experience, we were very disappointed. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and looks into improving staff behaviour and customer service.
Other than the service, coffee and cake were good.
When you come to a restaurant you don’t want to be directed or asserted. You do want hospitality and service, like acknowledging the presence of customers who walk in and wait for you to look up from your screen. Try greeting them and saying you will be with them shortly.
Pointing out that you had a large order and directing my attention to a sign is no way to deescalate annoyance.
The style of management would be better suited to a factory floor than a restaurant.
To the owners of this establishment. We all know that an average meal can be lifted by amazing service and an amazing meal can be neutralised by “assertive” service.
Choose your front end staff wisely, they are literally the face of your organisation.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being overwhelming, and our food arrived quickly. I also loved the atmosphere; it was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming vibe.
For the quality of food and service, the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend Edward’s waterfront and look forward to coming back again.
We originally were going to go for some dessert but was so full! Great ginger beer too! (I’m obsessed with ginger beer)
Thank you for a lovely experience!
