Out in the Puget Sound looking for a weekend treat. We got there on busy Saturday long line inside about 15 minute wait. Worth the time. Fireplace was cozy and warm, fun and unique seating in a looks like restored but new building. Lemon bar sweet and messy. Wife devoured the cake. Great find, decently priced. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

When’s Nest is a diamond in the rough. As a bakery alone, it is phenomenal, but for those with Celiac and dairy allergies are in for a treat. This place is 100% Gluten Free, and has several dairy free and vegan options.

People from all over the south Puget Sound converge and this bakery, especially on Saturday because it is the only day they make their Cinnamon Rolls. They do special orders, cakes for Birthdays and Weddings, as well as full, multi-course meals for special occasions such as Valentines Day.

The building was built by the owner, has multiple rooms inside for seating, fireplaces, and a rooftop open patio overlooking Commensment Bay that is open in the summer months.

You should know up front that I am NOT a gluten free lady. That being said, even my super discerning palate could not distinguish my Raspberry Coffee Cake slice from the real thing. The pastry had an excellent light crumb and was absolutely surprisingly delicious. This place has absolutely converted me. I never thought I could enjoy something like this, well, I sure do! Very very very good. I also bought the sourdough bread which was hot out of the oven and smells devine. Beautiful loaf. I can’t wait to dig in… as a sourdough bread baker myself, it’s cool to try a gluten free version. Break out the Metropolitan Market french sea salt butter!
I received exceptional service from Marley, welcoming and informative and I’m an African American woman as well there was an African American man right behind me and I, as well as he, were treated with the utmost kindness and respect. I’m 58 years ago born and raised 2 blocks from Annie Wright school in Tacoma. This place has true Tacoma welcoming and down to earth vibes. It is welcoming and respectful to all people.
I love the seating reminds me of “The Last Exit” days in Seattle.
Will be back regularly… totally worth every penny.
update: the sourdough is delicious, crunchy outside tender crumb excellent flavor easily slices thin. Would be great slightly toasted.

I came here 30 minutes from closing, and there was only about four items which is totally fine because they were all delicious. I bought a bag of croutons that really dressed up a salad and a stuffed bun that was at least 3 pounds! It was stuffed with a salty savory pesto, sun-dried tomatoes baked inside a bread that could absolutely hold it up. It would be a fine breakfast, lunch or dinner seriously. The service was super kind.

This establishment offers a delightful dining experience, featuring a wide array of options to accommodate various dietary needs and preferences. With a diverse menu, there is sure to be something enjoyable for everyone, including those with food allergies or sensitivities. I highly recommend multiple visits to sample the different offerings. The pastries and treats are truly exceptional. Furthermore, the selection of adult beverages and cocktails is impressive, with a menu of delectable items to explore. The rooftop provides a serene atmosphere, offering breathtaking views of Point Rustin, the dunes, and the Puget Sound. The interior decor features a charming barn-style ambiance with subdued lighting. The staff and owner are exceptionally gracious, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming experience for all guests. For those who appreciate jazz music, there is a wonderful band that performs on Thursdays and Fridays. Reservations are highly recommended, as this establishment tends to fill up quickly. Overall, this place truly has it all.

I have been driving 30 miles every couple weeks since I found this place to stock up on bread and other goodies. I have been gluten free for 25 years and this is the first bakery I have found that is entirely GF. Everything I have tried is amazing. Even my boyfriend, meat and potatoes kinda guy, loves the bread. I pick up a sourdough just for him. The building is appealing to me as well because I have horses and love they kept the stalls. Just go early so they don’t run out of your favorites.

I love this little bakery, its friendliness, and its beautiful location. I have found all of the items I have purchased here to be excellent although I do not require gluten free. This Thanksgiving, one of the dinner guests, who is celiac, loves pecan pie. I was so thrilled to find a beautiful pecan pie for purchase at Wren’s Bakery. Our guest was elated, and all of us enjoyed the fragrant and tasty slices. And I was even able to send the small remainder home for our guest to enjoy later.

It gets very busy, but it’s worth it! We stood in line for maybe 20 minutes during their busiest time, so not bad at all. The interior is really nice and the staff is awesome, very friendly and working hard in the rush. The kolaches – amazing! The scones – delightful! Will be back for more and hopefully check out the rooftop when it’s open.

Perfection! This bakery offers the BEST ham and rosemary quiche and raspberry coffee cake I’ve ever had! The staff are incredibly polite and friendly. Clean to perfection. Don’t miss out on this gem! As a bonus, there is plentiful rooftop seating with views of the water!

Let’s start with this: the FOOD IS AMAZING, although pricey, but what isn’t for GLUTEN FREE! I have celiac disease, so having a dedicated gluten-free bakery is honestly the most convenient for us folks.

Why the 2 stars? Well, let’s say that if you’re not a certain type of clientele, you’re not really welcomed as “part of the crowd” that fits that profile. How I got spoken to versus how some of the folks got spoken to really set the tone. It’s unfortunate, too, because it’s not the first time I’ve seen it and been treated that way. Southern Washington is a very diverse area; all residents should be treated equally.

Now, customer service, well, let’s talk about that. I guess that goes hand in hand with my previous comment, you get treated differently for sure. But the cashier today was condescending and rude. Speaking to me as though I was ignorant and not understanding what he was saying. Not to mention, I drove 30 miles from Lacey to Ruston to get a bagel, which I was told not once but twice by the cashier that they just introduced to the menu last weekend, and because they’re closed on Sundays, they cannot prep particular items. They only have bagels Tuesday through Saturday, and it’s impossible to have that ready for Monday. I felt so unwanted and not valued as a customer. My money is just as green and valuable as the money that fits their clientele profile. Just an fyi, I spent $75 dollars at your store today.

Recommendations, have a diversity customer service and hospitality course for all employees including the owners that work their, acknowledge ALL CUSTOMERS whether you’ve known them for years, whether their reoccurring customers, whether they’re not fitting the clientele profile you seems to treat with open and welcoming arms, be exact on all social media platforms what exactly is available on what days, so customers like myself do not drive 30 miles to get bagels that are not made because your store is closed on Sundays. Apparently, the cashier mentioned other items, but didn’t specify precisely what they were. Oh but he did mention “we don’t make Croissants,” NOTED!
