I have had potbellies before, and I have to say pretty good sandwich! I like the toasted sandwich. The only thing I don’t like is when you order something on the sandwich and they don’t put it on.
And of course, that happened to me.
I ordered on the potbelly app now this is what I don’t get. They tell you to go to the shelf look for your name take your order and go. This was not the case. I go in there was pretty crowded. Gave them plenty of time to have the sandwiches the ready, and yet I still have to wait for someone to help me. There was a shelf there, but nothing was on the shelf. It was behind the register of the counter. there was a line there I had to wait for someone to help me or just to hand me the food. I waited and I’m going to tell you, she was not very friendly. So I have one suggestion for potbelly, go back to putting it on the shelf so I don’t have to deal with your employees, they were not having a good day.

Decided to do an online order and ordered Italian and Steak one. Also, added some toppings. Unfortunately, sandwiches were NOT toasted and were missing things. Instead of caramelized onions regular onions were put in and steak sandwich was missing cheese which is not an extra topping but a base.
Okay, maybe I can understand the substitution. BUT TO LEAVE AN ONION SHELL IN THE SANDWICH??!!!! made it whole lot worse.
In general, an unpleasant experience for someone who tried Potbelly for the first time.

For Potbelly, the sandwich was just average, and they forgot to add the avocado. However, the tables were sticky and not very clean, which made the experience less pleasant than it could be. The service was okay, but a bit slow for a fast-food style place. I hope they improve the cleanliness because the food itself is usually worth coming back for.

I recently visited the Potbelly Sandwich Shop at this location, and overall, it’s a nice place. The staff is extremely friendly, always greeting customers with a smile, and the store is consistently clean and well-maintained.

However, I had an experience that left me quite surprised. I purchased a turkey sandwich, which is usually a reliable choice. To my dismay, the sandwich came with tomatoes that were hard and included the core, or stem scar, which made them difficult to eat. I was quite taken aback by this, as I didn’t expect such an oversight in the preparation of my sandwich.

Despite attempting to eat it, the tomatoes were simply too hard, and it affected the overall enjoyment of the sandwich. I was very surprised and disappointed that such a garnishment was placed on my sandwich. Additional notes from a visit I made yesterday giving this location. Another chance. **Review of Potbelly’s: A Disappointing Lunch Experience**

updated 7/19/24

I re-visited this Potbelly’s, a place I’ve frequented since childhood when they started across from Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Yesterday, I decided to try their new lunch plan, which consists of a sandwich, a drink, and a bag of chips. I added a cup of chili, expecting a reasonably tasteful meal. Unfortunately, what seemed like an economic value turned out to be a mathematical bait and switch.

Upon ordering the meal and paying close to $17, I experienced sticker shock. Sitting down at the table, I realized I had received an extremely small sandwich that was poorly made and didn’t taste good. When I confronted the counter, they informed me that the meal deal included a skinny sandwich. “Skinny” is an understatement for what I received.

Adding to my disappointment, when I opened the bag of chips, I found that only 25% of the bag was full; the rest was just air. For $17, this felt more like a kids’ meal than a meal suitable for an adult.

In addition, the chart they show you is deceiving. It displays images of the skinny sandwich, the regular size sandwich, and the large sandwich. This leads customers to believe they are getting more than just a quarter of a sandwich. When I went back to the counter to ask what was going on, they had no explanation. This bait-and-switch tactic is extremely misleading and unfair to consumers.

In short, the quality of food for the price point is definitely not worth it. The sandwich was subpar, and the value was disappointing. I understand that the economy is rough, but charging this much for a poor-quality meal feels like a money grab.

Moreover, the staff at this location was unfriendly and dismissive when I raised my concerns, essentially telling me to take it or leave it. Moving forward, I’ll be searching elsewhere for a sandwich. For what they charge for this skimpy meal, I could probably have a better quality meal somewhere else.

On Tuesday January 27th, this location was short-staffed and inundated with orders in the evening, so much so that the shift manager announced that only online/mobile orders would be fulfilled. If you walk in to order, you were turned away. Customers were angry. I was told that I’d have to wait 15 minutes beyond the time it normally takes to complete an order, so I went to Ulta and came back. How do you prioritize someone outside the store and their DoorDash drivers over people looking you in the eye? The food that we ordered wasn’t made properly, reflecting the rush.

The management at this location needs to hire more employees for the volume of business they do here, and have processes for bringing in backups when demand surges or employees are absent. There are so many other choices for decent fast food in the surrounding half mile area.

I ordered my usual chicken grill sandwich. Regrettably, the staff member who took my order mistakenly added bacon, an ingredient I do not consume due to personal preference/dietary restrictions. When my sandwich was presented, I politely informed the server about the error. The bacon was then removed directly from the sandwich, which had already come into contact with the incorrect ingredient. The sandwich was subsequently served to me.
My primary concern stems from the method of correction, as it did not fully address the issue of potential cross-contamination. This practice is particularly concerning for individuals with allergies or strict dietary requirements. While I acknowledge that I could have insisted on a completely new sandwich at the time, I was reluctant to create a disruptive situation and felt uncomfortable escalating the matter further in front of other customers.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it can contribute to a review of food preparation protocols and staff training regarding order accuracy and the handling of incorrect ingredients, especially when dietary preferences or restrictions are involved. Ensuring that such errors are rectified in a manner that upholds food safety standards and customer satisfaction is, I believe, paramount.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Always short staffed. Waited 40 minutes for my mobile order. ***Tip: just order in person, you’ll get your order before the mobile orders. ( I saw 12 in person orders being fulfilled while the the mobile order queue was backed up to 12 orders on the screen).

Normally I love the sandwiches at this location. Today I tried the new bbq pulled pork sandwich, and I would not recommend it. There was barely any meat on it, and it was extremely salty.

I ordered the Mediterranean sandwich today and they ask what to put on there. I say everything they usually put on it because it’s already made a specific way. They literally put every topping imaginable and because it was a very large order to go, I wasn’t babysitting every sandwich they made for me…and I shouldn’t have to. If it was a first-time mistake, I wouldn’t leave such a bad review, but it happens every time I order from this location no matter the sandwich. I’m using the irving park and keeler location from now on. I will not keep wasting money on inedible food.

I got 2 sandwiches and they both were not tosted (they always get tosted) i will attach a photo. Something in the sandwich had a funny taste idk if it was the papers I got was bad or idk what happened. nothing sandwiches were not tosted. And they didn’t add the chips to my order thankfully I doubled checked my bag to see if they added the cookie and chips.
