The food itself is still good, but everything else has gone downhill. The atmosphere is severely lacking. Every time we walk in, there’s a distinct, unpleasant sewer smell that makes you wonder how anyone can dine there comfortably.
They’ve also made some changes to their menu that are disappointing. The quesadillas now come with a different, much smaller style of tortilla than they used to, which really diminishes the value.
The final straw was the customer service and nickel-and-diming. We spent $68 on our meal and when I asked for a small side of extra sauce, they actually charged me $3 for a tiny 4 oz container! You can get an entire extra taco for that price. When you spend that much on a meal, you expect a little extra sauce to be complimentary, not a rip-off.
Needless to say, after ten years of loyalty, we’re done. There are better options for good Mexican food that also value their customers and atmosphere.
We had to get cash from the ATM next door. But we’re new to town and need to find good mexican food somewhere and wanted to try this place. So, that made lunch kinda expensive for what we got.
Two other patrons left without ordering while we dined, because it was “cash only.”
I love this place so hopefully, that changes
My food had so much flavor in every bite, I got the ceviche with chips and fish tacos with corn tortilla. I ordered one fish taco and she accidentally made two and let me know she gave me an extra one. The two salsas they gave me were so tasty, the right amount of spice in both. One was a chipotle mayo concoction, and the other tomato Chile salsa. I eat out daily all across the country, I just did a 32 hour drive cross country and I can say hands down best food I’ve had in a long time!! The prices were more than reasonable, the fish tacos were big! The service was spectacular, the young lady at the register was nice/helpful and courteous and had a smile on her face the whole time. The ambiance, Spanish music not too loud. The only thing parking is limited I had to park at the gas station. To think I almost left because the gas station was packed and the only parking said that I could be stuck in the spot for over 45 min due to it being possibly blocked off by the gas trucks. I waited for someone to move about 5-10 min. I hope to return soon!! I might just road trip down there again just to eat here, so worth it.
(Didn’t get photo of the fish tacos)
i will definitely recommend this place when you’re passing by and get the torta !!!
I don’t know if ownership changed hands, but whoever is running this location does not know how to run a business. The location looks run down, they don’t have the salsa bar anymore, and the quality of the food has gone down a lot. My friend, whos a local, even pointed out to the guy who brought us our food that the shrimp were overcooked (batter was dark brown, almost looked burnt) and they just shrugged their shoulders. Congrats, you saved a buck by not replacing the burned shrimp, but I wonder how much its cost you in long term business. And i’m guessing i’m not the only one who has noticed this. We were there during lunch time and hardly anyone came in. I wonder why?
