We had no wait and the servicers were friendly and our food came out quickly. I got the La bandera enchiladas which were tasty (a little small but good flavor; I liked the different sauces). I also took a pic of my friends mucho grande burrito lol it lived up to the name
I really like how every chair and booth are different. I’m curious if every location is as colorful as this one.
All in all, a good place to stop in for a bite
Pros: The food is very good. I enjoyed the arroz con carne because many places do not offer this dish. The quesabirrias were solid as well. The salsa offered with the chips is flavorful and thick and not the runny kind that some places offer. The decor is decent but dated and the employees are friendly.
Cons: First of all they charge you if you ask for salsa refills! I have never been charged for chips or salsa from any Mexican restaurant that offers them as a free appetizer. The bowls the salsa comes in are very small so there’s no way you’ll have enough salsa for all the chips unless you ask for a second bowl. The server was slow. We came on a cold and slow wednesday night and we finished our entire meal before the server checked on us or asked if we needed a refill. The other odd thing to me is that the condiment holders have no napkins or hot sauce of any kind. Just equal, salt and pepper. Last comment is that some of the booths have an arch over them and they are so close together that I had to move the table just to sit down or stand up. Overall this is a decent place with good food but it’s egregious to charge for salsa when you serve so little with your chips.
This was noticed by another worker who kept coming back to see if anyone else was sitting in the area that I was, though he didn’t say anything I could tell he was curious why I was seated there. As a large black man, I’ve dealt with discrimination and prejudice a time or two in my 39 years, so I just ate my food, left a generous tip for my waiter who was attentive and left.
In the future it would behoove you to treat all customers, regardless of race, with dignity and respect if you would like to earn repeat business. I will forgo this establishment in the future and continue eating at the other Mexican restaurant nearby. Attached photos of where I was sat and how I was the only patron seated back there even though I counted at least 6 or 7 open tables in the main dining area during the time I was eating my lunch.
I do not condone prejudice and speak against it with my dollars, but I felt it necessary to let other potential patrons who look like me know that you might not be welcome in this establishment.
