We had a lovely dinner at Rendez-vous. The service was excellent and the shared appetizer of pâtés was very good. I ordered the Tomate Bouchon, which I expected to be a small starter, but it turned out to be enough tomato and goat cheese for four people! The description mentioned chives, though I couldn’t find any. My trout almondine was delicious, and my husband loved his chicken cordon bleu. The fries are out of this world, and portions overall are very generous.
The house wine was quite good and reasonably priced, as was the rest of the wine list. The only downsides were that the food was overly salted and we were charged $2 for an extra serving of salad dressing. Everything was so copious that there was unfortunately no room left for dessert. Still, we would definitely eat here again.

Wow, what a fantastic place. We were taken here by some locals and I can only say it exceeded all of our expectations. French without being pretentious. Excellent food and fun atmosphere. Servings were surprisingly generous for a restaurant of this type – I had the mussels and almost couldn’t finish them. There’s a lot of seating inside and out and a service could not have been better. I think we hit air, land, and sea as far as what we ate, and it was all excellent. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I had our reception dinner for our small wedding here (10 people). It was fantastic! Darrell took very good care of us and all of our guests loved the food. The reception was also a MUCH more reasonable price here than anywhere else we looked in town, especially for a small group. Also, I don’t think going to any of the places that cost 1000s of dollars more would have gotten me better food, service, or atmosphere. It was amazing!

Note: We got the dining room off of the right to the entrance to ourselves. It doesn’t have a door so I guess it isn’t “private,” but we were not disturbed by other guests at all and my best man was still able to give a speech and everything!

Ambiance was nice. Food was terrific. But the service was much to be desired. While everyone at the table started eating, I was still waiting for utensils. I asked three times. Two separate people. And they didn’t bring our bread.. we had to ask for it a few times.
One of my pet peeves is inconsistency with service. When a new couple comes in 15 minutes after you do, but they receive everything including ordering their meal before you do. Especially when you’re hungry, and everyone at your table is trying to have eye contact with the servers.. That was annoying. For me. And I didn’t want to remember Rendezvous that way. They even flopped the boeuf bourguignon so hard in front of me, the sauce splashed on me.. lol

Excellent French cuisine. Delicious drinks, appetizers, entrée and desserts. Oh, and they were showing Ratatouille in a family area!

Enjoyed our first visit, but each of two subsequent meals have been disappointing. We started with the beet, apple, roquefort cheese salad–sloppily put together; insufficient extras other than lettuce. I ordered the salmon which was properly cooked, but there was almost no taste of the sauce. It was served with steamed vegetables without seasoning and without taste. There was no evidence that the chef received any training; complete absence of any creativity. Poor selection of wine by the glass. Will not return

What can I say? Every trip to Asheville, I make it a point to stop in @ Rendezvous for a traditional French meal. Michel runs a tight ship and is regularly seen on site visiting with guests. The wine list, cocktails, and digestifs will whet your appetite. The daily specials will tempt your adventurous side. And the standard French fare will satisfy your need for proper French comfort food. If you stop in on Wednesdays (check their calendar), you can play a round of Petanque if you are the competitive sporting type. Whatever the season, give Rendezvous a try. Bon Appétit!

Absolutely wonderful meal here. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. The cheese plate whet our appetites and my trout was perfectly prepared with still crunchy green beans. The recommended wine paired beautifully. The creme brulee was incredible to finish the meal. Definitely will return and heartily recommend.

We made an online reservation here to celebrate our 55th anniversary. Prior to the reservation we’d seen a show downtown which ran later than we anticipated. As a matter of courtesy, I phoned the restaurant to let them know we had just gotten out of the show and would be a bit late for our dining time allowing her the option of letting us know she could no longer accommodate us. I spoke with Michelle who, after checking, said they would be able to accommodate us. Great! I had put on the reservation form that we were celebrating our 55th anniversary.
We were led to our table right in the service aisle but ok.

The good: The French onion soup for starters was excellent. It arrived quickly and was as tasty as it was nice and hot.
Demetri showed us the wine and drink menu and when I mentioned we didn’t drink -he offered mocktails.

We ordered:
Lasagne Provençal. I have entered the description of this food because it smelled distinctly like fish.
Per the menu it was composed of seasonal vegetables, gruyère, mozzarella, garlic, tomato sauce, parmesan. I have entered the description of this food because it smelled distinctly like fish. I believed, when it was delivered to the table, that perhaps I neglected to note either fish, shrimp or lobster but alas, none of those are components of that dish so I have no explanation for the fish aroma.

Beoff Bourguignon: This dish arrived barely warm. I did not see Demetri so I asked another young woman if she could heat it up. She gladly took the bowl. Mere moments later she was back placing the food on the table. It was still lukewarm. Ah Demetri passed by and we asked again if the food could be heated. He also returned promptly and the food was still not hot, During his short absence -I was trying to wait for my husband’s food so we both could enjoy our dinner together- So, we went back to our soup. When he returned it was still not hot. The 3rd time was the charm . I am unclear as to what was happening in the kitchen re: heating the food …but it took 3 shots to get a hot entree.
No worries soup got to finish the soup and the Pomme Frites were still warm and were quite nice.

Well, it was an interesting anniversary dinner. Not exactly my vision but if you are feeling “flexible” I can vouch for the French Onion Soup and the Pomme Frites.
