First time at Angie’s. Enjoyed a delicious set 4 course Italian family style dinner there this past Wednesday. Handmade ravioli, white minestrone soup, veal marsala topped with a ricotta stuffed zucchini blossom and decadent lemon tiramisu for dessert. I was so impressed! My only issue is that the atmosphere doesn’t reflect the quality & innovation of the food (I would love to get my hands on designing the interior). Chef Angie’s culinary talents are a rare gem for a small town like Independence, Virginia. I sincerely hope that excellence of this scale does not go unappreciated by locals. As for myself, I plan to become an Angie’s Sip & Taste regular!

Food is wonderful , fresh ingredients this place would be booming in a larger city so give it a try you won’t be disappointed. I had a Mango Tini Mocktail, Roast beef special , Steak and Ale pie

Outstanding meal and amazing service. There is a monthly menu which changes each month and a special of the day on Friday/Saturday. We had the pork belly served in a pea soup with an egg; it was delicious, sweet, and surprisingly sophisticated. I ordered it because I thought the combination sounded a bit odd but I’m glad I did because I was amazed. My wife and I can’t wait to come back to try something new when we’re back in town!

I’ve waited for months to review this place because it was brand new and I knew it would take a while to settle in. I really had high hopes for Angies. The food is tasty at times, but inconsistent. Small portions and freshness varies. Service is about the same, inconsistent as it can vary. As for the atmosphere , its quite clinical, lacks character and definitely not cozy. As for cost, the value is just not there. Small portions with an expensive price tag. I once paid $7 for 2 small stale donuts! On another occasion I tried the burger and it was very dry and very little taste. The mushroom soup was good but it was $6 for like 4oz at best. Not a place to grab a meal for under $10. I been to Angies a dozen times over the past 10 months and it has failed to impress. I wanted to like it because this town definitely lacks food options, but Angies seems like it’s more geared towards tourists and out-of -town folks just passing through, certainly not the average local. I’ll give it 3 stars because the food was decent at times and it’s very clean. But the inconsistently, extremely high prices, and small portions are a big turn off.

A very unique eatery with a very creative menu. Small town feel with big city flavor. I had a butter leaf salad with dill pickle ranch and despite not normally liking dill, it was super yummy. Then I had the ribeye, cooked to perfection and simply seasoned. The Hong Kong and Earl grey tea gelato were also lovely. I had originally come here for the prime rib but it wasn’t on the menu that day. The waitress told us that if we came back, to just call ahead and ask for it and she would make it. How awesome is that?!?

Buyer Beware: This restaurant presents an attitude of empowerment from its owner, but unfortunately, customer service is lacking. The menu lacks clarity, making it difficult to discern its cultural influences—ranging from European to possibly Scottish and Irish. Additionally, the beer selection is unsatisfactory. Given the mountainous setting, one would expect hearty, home-style meals; instead, we were served subpar dishes. It raises questions as to why the bed and breakfast recommended this establishment, unless there is a personal connection. I would advise seeking alternative dining options; even a visit to McDonald’s would have been preferable.

This place is great. Delicious food, cool beer, and good mocktails. And it is worth eating here just for variety and the atmosphere alone. The menu changes frequently for lunch, so checking their online menu is best.

There are also a lot of vegetarian options here.

I would recommend this to just about anyone looking for a new place to eat. I think it’s one of the best new restaurants around.

Love this place! The food is AMAZING, very reasonably priced and while not a huge selection, it’s a tough choice because the options are SO good. The menu changes monthly. The dishes are European based and night have strange names, so ask if you have questions about what’s in them. The brother and sister owners are great!

I was excited about a pub opening up and especially one that served British food. Sadly, we were very disappointed. There was ZERO atmosphere….Weird, silent, no bar, no salt or pepper, no menus. Beer choices scribbled on a literal napkin. 3 American beer choices, no tap.
Food tasted great but looked horrible. Maybe five choices of what to eat. Hopefully they get a real bar put in, some menus, some softer lighting and work on plating.

I have had the fish, lemon tarte and quiche. The dishes were a very good flavor and nicely prepared. I do think the portions are a little bit small for the price but because the food is good I would still buy it again. I would like to see the atmosphere warmed up a bit but atmosphere does not equal flavor for the food so like I said I will definitely be back. I am looking forward to the chocolate croissants. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to make it in on a Wednesday but I’ll be there at some point. I definitely think the owner is open to suggestions and I hope this place takes off.
