Ive never had Nigerian cuisine but Im so happy this was my first experience! Our table ordered the fried snapper, chicken waffle sliders, egusi w/ fufu, wings, seafood eggrolls and salmon croquettes. Nesha was our beautiful server who was an absolute delight and made the experience all the better. Check this place out for a unique dining experience!

i had the pleasure of being able to try their wonderful food. i’ve always wanted to try fufu and egusi and this was truly worth the hype. while i had to wait, i understood because its being made fresh. the atmosphere was very chill yet had that club/lounge vibe. it was my first time and definitely not my last. may i add, i live an hour away, got takeout, drove back home and it was still hot.

We walked in, employees were sitting at the bar on their phones and were having a great conversation, mind you, no other customers were there. Was told we could sit where ever. Once we sat down, it took a good 10 mins for her to bring the menus over and greet us. She left us alone and gave us a good 15 mins before we could order. Mind you the employees were still having the best conversation at the bar. While we waited to order. Lexi our server and bartender was more worried about her personal cell phone than attending and serving us. The food was below mid as well as very expensive. The rice was dry, lamb chops were juicy. The chicken wings were old and cold. The only thing that was really good were the sea food rolls. You guys need to stop in a try this place while they are around. I don’t see them lasting another 6 months to a year under these conditions and service.

wait for service, drinks, or food was very long. was there almost 2 hours- took almost 20-30 mins to get check, which we had to go stand at bar to pay. only 4 tables filled while we were there, was the first ones there & almost last to leave. i’m guessing if you’re not friends/known to the server it will not be as pleasant or quick for you. the lady serving us was talking very long with a friend & had them served and taken care of out the door (after he ate) before taking care of the tables she already had.
20% gratuity is automatically applied no matter the size of table.
there was hair in my food.
the eggrolls with oxtail were good!
my boyfriend got the EGUSI with Fufu said was very bland but had a decent amount of meat- (boney & cartilagey)
i had the EFO RI RO with fufu definitely had flavor a little bit of spice. personally didnt care for the meat- cow skin was way to hard- not enjoyable, to much gristle unable to chew. mainly just tasted like spicier greens.
pretty expensive for the size of portions.
bathrooms needed to be serviced.

My son wanted to come to Afrikan Taste & Lounge for his 29th birthday dinner. Let me just say 12 out of 10 chefs kiss! I ordered the Asun and it was amazing! We all tasted each others dishes and not a single one disappointed! My husband ordered the Shawarma and really liked it as well. My son ordered the FuFu and Egusi and a side of asparagus. So many great flavors in the dish. The asparagus was well seasoned with the perfect crunch! His friend ordered the Atekie and a side of Jollof. I’m not a fan of fish at all and I even thought it was really good and the Jollof was so tasty! We will absolutely be back and recommend it to everyone. Also to mention the service was phenomenal! The server/bartender and manager were very personable, nice and accommodating. We visited from Uniontown Ohio which is between Akron and Canton. It was definitely worth the 50 minute drive!
Also editing too add the whole ambiance is a vibe! Good lighting and “table light” system to signal the staff that you need attention. Good music too!

Food was expensive with small portions. Egusi was bland, felt like it was missing iru/crayfish powder/palm oil. Pepper sauce was mild. Tripe was so tough it was inedible. Asun was okay. Fufu was dry. To top it off 20% service charge was added on.
Not giving 1 star because atmosphere is good, place has potential. Waitress was nice.

At least tell customers there is a 20% gratuity added to your bill. I always tip at least 20%, so I’m out 40% on a bill. I won’t be returning. Drinks are already over priced. Decor and place is nice. Too bad they’re not more transparent with the gratuity. I was there for a social event. Started off with 2 waitresses then one left to serve about 40 people is insane.$16 for 5 wings is ridiculous. On a positive note Fries were good.

We stopped in because we never have been. The decor was fashionable and the vibe was perfect. Music wasn’t too loud. Lexi was our waitress we ordered red snapper, deviled eggs, lamb chops. Originally they had burgers however they have a Nigerian cook and an American cook. Only one was there so couldn’t try the burger. The only problem was the machine for paying. The waitress tips are too low starting only at 3%.

I placed a pick up order through Uber Eats, Although I did see the price and thought that it was kind of insane I really wanted to try this food and this was the closest place to me. I did have to drive about 30 minutes. Upon arriving, I was not greeted by the bartender that was at the bar She was occupied On the phone I didn’t care too much because I was just wanting to eat. Once I received my food, I was a bit surprised when I saw how small my serving was mind you this was a $30 plate ($26 to be exact) . I ordered the egusi soup with the pounded yam ($6.00). When I finally made it back home, I was excited to try it because of TikTok, of course The food tasted very delicious There is a spice to it. There was a decent amount of meat, but my complaint is that this is not worth about $30 Serving is much too small for that portion. I did I enjoy it but because of the price that is tagged alongside the portion I will have to make this a rare occasion treating rather than adding it to my regular take out places. I wish I could rate it higher but the price is just not reasonable.

After seeing Stefan Johnson’s review on IG my partner and I decided to go check out this local restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed a lovely flower wall for pictures. And this girly love a good pic! Also stopped in the bathroom to wash my hands and the sink was filled with hair as if someone was brushing their hair over the sink other wise clean. Restaurant was empty we noticed 2 employees at the further corner of the bar closest to the kitchen area. Looked at us and I spoke then on of them told us to take a seat where we like and she would be over with menus. We sat chatted for a bit and I even went back to my car to grab something and returned still no menu or drinks( which my partner knows what I like so he would have ordered). Once back another 5 mins or so our server Lexi came over asked for drink order and handed us the menus with only one side of the front and back menu being available which was ok as what I wanted to try was on that list. We ordered an appetizer( wings) which came out with our main course , lamb chops with Jollof, rice, and asparagus, and seafood egg rolls. We waited at least 20-30 mins for everything and it was luke warm, except the rolls they were freshly made. As for the quality of the food, it wasn’t bad wings were fried decently wish they could have been hot and not room temp the Momma Africa sauce was good not too spicy, the lamb chops had a good flavor also wish they were hot as well, the rice had a great flavor but you could tell it had sat or a while in a warmer or something as it was semi dry before being served. Asparagus was slightly under seasoned. The best thing we had was the seafood rolls. Could tell they were freshly made and very seasoned. The atmosphere wasn’t bad just quiet except the servers chatting about personal matters and on their phone. I should never know about your children or vlogging equipment you ordered when we needed refills on drinks. Customer service is what can make or break an experience. Paying $86 for those 3 items and leaving a $20 tip was us being generous as we just wanted to try African food in our local neighborhood. Yes we seen the girls on their phone doing NON WORK RELATED things and having those personal conversations which isn’t something I cared to know. Maybe ordering Togo may be a better experience.
