We had a great dinner here. We most enjoyed the patio. It’s surrounded by bamboo, so it feels secluded–not out by the road as an advertisement for outdoor seating. Our waitress, Cecilya, was delightful and checked on us frequently to make sure we were well cared for. A simple, uncluttered menu makes it easy to choose even when everything sounds good.
Portion sizes are average, but prices are little on the high side with a grilled cheese and chips starting at $14 and the average meal over $20 if you include a side or two.

Great place for lunch. Yummy burgers & fries. Their Mac and cheese also yummy. Glad we tried this place. A bit expensive, we got charged for most of the toppings on our burgers even the cheese. Walked in to heavy metal music, would prefer country music or something more family style music over hard rock, also glad it was just two songs couldn’t have endured more overall glad we tried this restaurant.

The atmosphere here is rustic, occupying an old hotel and Chicken restaurant. It feels warm and welcoming.
I had heard they have really good burgers so I ordered the Cheese Head Burger ($17). This is a MI CRAFT BEEF DOUBLE SMASH BURGER, BACON, CHEESE CURDS AND BEER CHEESE. This was good, definitely above average. However it was also disappointing. This may be because I prefer a thick juicy burger over a smash burger. The quality of the meat was very good and the cheese tasted good. However everything together was just a little underwhelming. I also got fries with it ($2). Sadly these too were underwhelming. There was nothing technically wrong with them, I was just disappointed. I kinda wished I’d just stuck with the chips. The person I was with ordered the Buffalo Nickel Burger ($19). This is a BUFFALO BURGER WITH GRILLED MUSHROOM AND ONIONS, SWISS CHEESE AND HOUSE THOUSAND ISLAND ON PRETZEL BUN. It was stated to be excellent.
The service was excellent. Super friendly staff.
Overall if I’d been alone the rating probably would have been a 3 star review. However because the person I was with loved hers and I really liked the service I decided on a 4 star review. Would I return? Maybe. If someone else wanted to go then I would, but I don’t see myself going back.

They were very ill-prepared to handle the business of a Saturday night on Valentine’s Day. I thought it would be a great place to go to and boy was I wrong. My reservation was for 6pm and ordered food around 6:20. Food did not come out until about 7:10. My order was a complete different sandwich from what I ordered. It still took a long time to get my new sandwich, which was a grilled cheese, so nothing that should take long. We had to leave by 7:30 to make it to another event – 90 minutes should have been plenty of time to order and eat a meal.
The waitress should have comped my meal automatically after apologizing to us a few times about how long things were taking and bringing me the wrong sandwich. I had to ask her about it and speak to a manager, who did comp it. Overall such a negative experience. After being in the restaurant for 90 minutes, I finally ate my sandwich in the car.
Will never go there again and do not recommend.

These reviews astound me. I wasted over $100 on the trash can. Our first and only visit was very underwhelming. First, we had a new server. Sure, you have to start somewhere, but it took ten minutes before we were even acknowledged. (It was Friday dinnertime) She was kind, but service was slow. “What would you like to drink?” Well, I don’t know what you have to drink. “There’s a drink menu on the table. ” Okay, don’t think my kids are gonna drink from it. I quickly ordered drinks and a pretzel for my children who were restless and hungry. The pretzel was great and the dips for it were superb. But then I couldn’t help but wonder, if she was every going to take our food order. Honestly, I wish she didn’t. My son said his burger was crunchy and the worst burger he ever had. I tried the burger with the cheese curls. I personally couldn’t stand the taste of whatever that cheese was they put on it. (Maybe it’s just gross, maybe it’s my taste buds) but I’d agree with my son. I was so excited for a good smash burger. This was not it. Smashed so thin it was like chewing little rock slates. Any juice and flavor gone from it. Just dry, crunch. No taste at all except for that nasty cheese. I tried a second bite after scraping the cheese off and adding ketchup (like a child hiding the flavor) and decided that was brave enough. I was done with the burger. The fries were okay, but how are they all cooked so different. Some were well done and dark brown while some were soft and pale. My daughter ate her fries but barely touched the kids Mac. ( Looked like Kraft) but my one year old didn’t mind and ate his. My wife got some pulled pork type sandwich and also made it two bites in before giving up. Maybe it was an off night as the reviews are great, but I can’t risk trying this again. I was so excited to try this place for months.

First time at Ale Bird here in Byron Center and I got to say I am NOT impressed to say the least! The “new” menu is lacking. The seating is not that comfortable. If you are on the heavier side, the seating here is not for you. Ordered the Grilled Cheese ($14.50) and it was almost like it was cooked 3 days ago and they were finally able to sell it and gave it to us. 2 thin slices of cheese on rock hard toasted sour dough bread. The fries tasted like they had been sitting all day under a warmer. Our server, Summer, was great! But I do not recommend this establishment. Over priced and lacking for sure!

Chill place and a great day to hang out on the patio. They are very dog friendly and you can order the “PupBurger” designed by the chef! Our dog loved it! Our server Ceci was amazing, attentive, super-upbeat, and made for an easy going afternoon. She was super busy, but still made time for us, loved our dog, and was so attentive… without hovering like some waitstaff can do. We will definitely go back! See photos of the PupBurger and our app which was the Burnt Ends with Cornbread underneath. SO GOOD!
Thanks Ceci and all the staff at Alebird!!

Delicious food. The food was hot. The service was quick and had that small town charm. There are a lot of vegan options. I ate the Buffalo Nickle Burger and it was yummy. For the appetizer we had the Wisconsin cheese curds with jalapeño ranch; also amazing.

This was an awesome place to visit. Great building with a comfortable environment, upbeat attitude, and delicious beer.
I only had drinks, so I can’t say much anything about the food. But the beers I had were all fantastic. I highly recommend the Byron Hotel Porter with Peanut Butter and the Sorry I’m Bad at Pickup Limes!
The staff is young and pretty chatty with their customers and each other. Our server was incredibly real and, at the end of the visit, I found out it was her first day!
I highly recommend swinging by for a fun and comfortable drinking (and probably dining) experience! You can tell the employees enjoy their jobs and the positivity just pours into both their work and your drinks!

An atmosphere that just makes you feel welcome. The young man who served us was AWESOMELY attentive, kept our glasses filled and never made us feel rushed. Appreciate the delicious meal venue chosen by our newly turned 17 year old. No bar required, just good food, friends, family, and great conversations about future plans.
We’ll be seeing you again and hopefully soon!
