I had an absolutely fantastic meal at Gaskins Barbecue and Lobster in Lakeland — this place deserves every one of its five stars! From the moment you walk in, the aroma of slow-smoked meats and fresh seafood lets you know you’re in for something special. Their menu is such a winning combo of hearty BBQ favorites and delicious seafood delights, and every bite I had was packed with flavor and freshness.
The lobster roll was a standout — generous chunks of sweet, tender lobster that rival even places I’ve tried up north — and the BBQ brisket and pulled pork were smoky, juicy, and cooked to perfection.
The sides were great complements, and the casual, clean atmosphere made it a super enjoyable dining experience. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and quick with recommendations, which made the visit even better.
Whether you’re craving BBQ or seafood (or both!), Gaskins is a must-try destination in Lakeland. I’ll definitely be back!

Excited to have a place to eat lobster roll in Lakeland. Let’s start by the service 4 stars only because the cashier was friendly, not one smile not one greet and upon questions just felt she just rather be home that day.
The lobster roll is a 10. The bread was buttered and warm, the lobster was cooked perfectly and received a good amount. The fries could be so much better they were regular fries, the sweet potato fries with marshmallows was ok, hubby had the pork sandwich and loved it. Another waiter came to offer us free ice cream and was a lot nicer than the cashier she kinda saved the day. I will be back for the lobster roll, hopefully cashier is having better day.

Me and my hubby decided to order takeout for Valentine’s Day yesterday. I’ve been wanting good lobster and decided to order the lobster roll. My hubby gets home and it looks amazing, my mouth is literally watering! I go and put my meal together turn to my left and the whole plate falls on the floor! I just stood there dumbfounded staring at my Valentine’s Day lobster on the floor. My amazing hubby immediately reordered and went to go get it. The girl, I think her name was Yashira according to our receipt, remembered my hubby and was so sad that my Valentine’s Day dinner ended up on the floor. She went above and beyond to make it special, she gave me an extra side and an amazing coupon for my next visit. I literally cried when I saw the card and her hand written note. Never in my life have I experienced such impeccable customer service! The prices were very fair and the food was absolutely amazing. I will be back there many many times! She really has no idea how much that little gesture meant to me.. I definitely shed a couple tears. When they say it’s a little things that make the biggest impact, boy they are right!

I ordered the 2 oz Connecticut Lobster Roll with green beans. The green beans were bland and overcooked. They needed some seasoning. The lobster was chewy but edible. It was nothing special. I was the only customer in the restaurant at 5:30 pm. so they did prepare the meal fast. This was a $19 meal but I knew it was going to be expensive.

I had the lobster roll and my husband and sons had bbq with Texas toast, potato salad and Mac n cheese. The entrees were delicious, the sides were okay with the potato salad being the tastiest. Staff was friendly and the ice cream was a nice motivator for the kids to finish their food quickly. Especially loved the lobster roll. Surprisingly it was better than a higher end restaurant that we tried while visiting Boston. Got big size chunks of fresh lobster meat including a good size claw. Will definitely be back for another roll.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and has a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience. The staff didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming, and it felt like they were more focused on their own Christmas party than on attending to customers. When we asked for mayo and mustard, we were only given one of each, which felt a bit dismissive as we had to come back and request more. The fries were nice and hot, but the brisket grilled cheese was not. Overall, the space is lovely, but the customer service and food consistency definitely need improvement.

Had only been once and I guess so long ago nothing felt familiar. Grabbed a pulled pork bbq sandwich, tenders, smoked wings, green beans, and banana pudding. It was fantastic. The sandwich was loaded (no skimpy serving on this sandwich), the bun perfectly toasted, and the wings (per husband) were really good too. The best part is I felt it was both REALLY tasty and a REALLY good value. We will be back much sooner this time!

This might seem an odd thing to point out, but if I thought the restaurant was closed, then others probably thought so too. We almost left, thinking the place was closed.
You order first at the counter and you have to get your plastic utensils at one of the self-service stations where you get your drinks. I find this odd because when you look at the restaurant, you think it’s a finer dining establishment and not self-serve. Also, there are no trash cans. If you have trash, you leave it on your table and one of the employees comes and picks it up. That is my list of the “bad” things. Now the good…

The staff was friendly, came by periodically to check on things, and even tried to suggestive sell some ice cream, which if I was the business owner then I would be very happy to hear that employees (possibly the manager…not sure, didn’t ask) are doing that.
They were also cleaning constantly. The place looked spotless. I don’t know what the bathrooms looked like, but if they were anything like the rest of the restaurant then it was probably clean too. Overall, I would go there again.

Gaskins is consistently great. I miss the Winter Haven location but the Lakeland spot is large, nice, and very clean.
Our favorite is the ghetto roll (warm with garlic butter), but this time I branched out and loved the wicked good roll, which is cold, mixed with mayo, and served on lettuce in the bun.
We made ours combos for $4.50 extra (side and drink) so we also shared fries, and the BBQ beans which are extra good because they have bits of pork and brisket in them.
The owners were working there and are very nice, friendly people. Service was great!
Also, lobster rolls were $14 because it was Monday.
