No matter what I say here, I love this spot and I will be back.

Pros
1. the staff, they were so accommodating. I made a custom brunch menu on our theme, they helped me with what changes. We opened a tab and the bartended kindly kept the drinks flowing. And they were good.
2.the location is absolutely stunning. So many photo ops for those who are into that kind of thing.
3. I loved the duckpin lanes. It is a smaller area, but perfect for what it provides. I appreciate no bowling shoe hubbub.
Cons:
1. I called and emailed as directed by the site, to obtain the private dining area. To this day no one has ever called me back. I ended up calling the actual restaurant and whoever took down my reservation did no relay the message. I showed up with balloons and cake and a confused staff greeted me. They put some tables together in the main dining area. I tied my balloon to chairs and we had a party. Eventually the kids found the private dining room and it would’ve been perfect for my event. So the kids ended up hanging out up there instead of their party table.
2. The food is the reason for the 3 star rating. so much to unpack idk if I’ll have room.
a. The chicken and waffles- the waffles were burnt on one side. The burnt sides were turned inward, so the kids couldn’t t see it was burnt until they dismantled the dish. It felt intentional and deceitful. The kids also said the waffles were too sweet (from the mouth of babes). The chicken was dry. Two of the children found gray hair in their eggs, and my dad had to send his eggs back as well.
b. the shrimp and girts- The sauce and the shrimp were amazing. the grits were cold and solid.Had they been warm they would have been amazing.
c. my daughter said the shrimp po boy was delish. she never finishes a whole plate of anything so it was a shock when she cleared her plate.
d. Apps- The corn bread was DRY and crumbly. I highly suggest you get some small skillets and make that to order. Would have been amazing if they were fresh with that butter!
My brother has been in the industry for years. I am sure he could run a diagnostic on your kitchen and help you identify your problem areas. I want to see you do well.. I love this location.

Called and made a reservation for 2, immediately they warned us about their hearing system being down which we greatly appreciated the honesty.

When we walked in we were greeted with warmth by the manager i’m assuming.

Vinnie was amazing ! very attentive and friendly, not one complaint. he held great conversation. the only problem was being a little cold .

will be back most definitely!!

Food is tasty, portion is large, staff is warm and friendly, quite about half of what we ordered was out, grits could have done with one more shrimp the next one was definitely better. Atmosphere was it for me. Music could also be better.

There were 4 of us in our party and we had mixed experiences. The shrimp and grits were good and the beignets were not visually appealing but they were delicious. The lemon drop and sangria were tasty. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was burned, with the hard breading acting as a projectile when I tried to cut into it. It also tasted like it was cooked in old grease and the waffles were overly sweet. The lavender French 75 as a cocktail (added spirit) was undrinkable so I didn’t. The server was upbeat and pleasant but it seemed she was working alone so there were noticeable gaps in her attention, but I wouldn’t fault her for that. My daughter has been here a couple of times for brunch, where they had a DJ and the atmosphere was fun and vibrant. Since she enjoyed it in the past, we went for a birthday brunch with her but the experience came off as sad, almost like a restaurant that is about to go out of business. I hope that is not the case because I think the concept and location are phenomenal but, based on my first visit, the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

We had an amazing experience! We tried the Thursday tasting menu special and it was so much fun. We got to try 12 different things on the menu. The pork belly and crab dip were amazing! The crab cake and shrimp and grits were equally delicious. There were great gluten free options. The manager was very friendly and answered all our questions. The space was both historic and modern. We would definitely come again. Even took home a Photo Booth souvenir!

My experience at Wilma’s was mediocre. Starting off the atmosphere was not what I expected. The bowling ball alleys were very small and didn’t live up to my expectations. Next, the service our waitress and the bartender were outstanding! No negative comments to that topic! Lastly, the food first we ordered the gumbo and red beans and rice. Never again. Me and my family are from New Orleans so we know what authentic creole food taste like. And this was not one of them. The broth was very unpleasant and the rice was undercooked. Next, the red beans and rice. Right off the bat it looked disgusting! We sent it right back to the kitchen 10 out of 10 DONT recommend. For me and my families meal we got the shrimp n’ grits, catfish shrimp and grits, and the hot and honey wings. The shrimp and grits were surprisingly really good I liked the creaminess and the flavor to the sauce, also the shrimp were very well seasoned. The next plate was the catfish shrimp and grits. Same thing just with catfish. The breading for the catfish and shrimp was very good and I enjoying indulging in this dish. Lastly, the wings the sauce was very sweet more than hot, but it was pretty good. Inside the wings were very dry and not moist at all. What I will say is the smoky taste inside the wings is very pleasing. Overall, my experience at Wilma’s was a solid 5/10 wouldn’t come back, but if I did it would only be for the drinks. The bartenders skills are excellent!

As French culinary art trained Creole and Cajun chefs, both my wife and I read about Wilma’s and wanted to give it a try. We got multiple dishes to share and try, we looked at posted photos that appeared very appetizing but let me share our experience: atmosphere and customer service were 5 star, now for the food and how the owners are choosing to run their establishment; we ate there with a 5 pm reservation in which we saw there were some happy hour food prices that you could not get unless you sat at the bar (of which the seating was very limited). Never been to any eating establishment that designates you to have to sit at the bar to receive happy hour food prices. We started with a bowl of gumbo and jambalaya, jambalaya was absolutely perfect and spot on. The gumbo however was bland and had absolutely no flavor (horrible for gumbo), we had the shrimp and grits (grits appeared to be white grits, and the shrimp and grits were all spice with none of the flavors of the vegetable gravy, shrimp, or anything else), very disappointing. We ordered a 3 course dinner in which the fresh mozzarella salad was delicious (hard to mess that up), the flank steak was thin sliced like ribeye cheesesteak meat with very little flavor, and the grasshopper ice cream pie , which was very good.
Now to the check, this establishment automatically includes a 20% tip to the bill. I understand that waitresses and waiters make very little money and depend on tips, and some people won’t tip no matter how good the service or food is. I however don’t agree with the automatic 20 % tip based on the fact that what if the food isn’t great or the service was horrible, then I’m forced to tip on bad food and service, don’t agree with this.
Food needs a lot of work if you are going to call this traditional Cajun and Creole, we probably won’t return for a second time
