I last ate at Murillos in 2002 when I moved to the area. It was OK. Decided to give it another shot for lunch in 2026. Wow! What an improvement! My wife had the Pacos Special “Mexican pizza”…and I the tostada. Huge helpings that were exceptional in taste. Our server was amazing and super friendly. He gave the suggestion to my wife with no regrets. We will def be back!!

The Paco Special is delish. Every time I visit Murrillos, the employees are welcoming in a warm way. This last visit the waitress seemed to be new because I had not seen her before. The customer service she provided was excellent. She was professional, friendly, checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything. It was a great experience. One of the customers who was sitting next to us, he complimented her to one of the leads. But the Paco Special, delish!!!! I get it with shredded beef.

I have eaten at this location multiple times and this is not good Mexican food whatsoever. If you want true Mexican food go to Villa Corona. The salsa here tastes like a mix of watered down ketchup mixed with a babecue sauce and some minced tomato with maybe onion. The food was not really that good and the service as a non regular sucked. Waitress never even came back once to refill drinks.

So I had to make another trip and try lunch, and was not dissatisfied at all. Service was just as prompt, friendly and courteous as it was for dinner. Portions remained good size, meal was again served quickly and piping hot. The enchiladas we’re as close to a Tex-Mex that I grew up eating and so I would definitely recommend sitting down and trying a meal. Staff is friendly, family owned and take great care in treating their patron’s well. I’ve had both lunch and dinner and no matter which time they remain consistent with both quality and service.

Had a nice dinner, went in about 5:30, and was able to get a table on this Saturday. Good service, good good, nice portions for the value. Served with chips and salsa, both regular and spicy. I had a combination plate, 2 items, with the enchilada (beef) which was delicious, and a chilli relleno which was good, served with rice and beans. Food was served extremely prompt and was served piping hot. My server was courteous, prompt and polite, and it was packed at the time I had dinner. If in the area it’s a good place to dine. Restaurant was clean, and practice safe protocol, and staff all wore mask.

Honestly pretty disappointed. Got a ‘super’ burrito.. it was dry flavorless shredded chicken, maybe a spoonful of beans, and a ton of wet shredded lettuce and diced tomatos.. it also wasn’t even fully wrapped. Surprising how something so wet can be so dry too. Picture is all the water left on my plate after the burrito leaked about a half cup of it…

It is what it is. If you’re from the area you understand it and probably enjoy it. If you’re not from here you will likely be disappointed. Go to items are pacos special w chile verde. ( I think their chile verde is extremely underrated) this is the type of place that hasn’t changed since they opened and that is a large part of the appeal. Homemade chips and salsa are worth a trip alone. But please don’t think you’re walking into a typical Mexican restaurant. It isn’t that.

We had stopped going to Murillo’s because we were not happy with the food etc at the E Monte Vista location. Forgetting about the OG Murillo’s on Merchant! Now we are back baby! We love it. We love the food, the service and the fact it has barely changed in 40 years. Sometimes the old is gold. Certainly is at this location.

We have been coming here as a family since I was a little girl. The current owner Stacey Murillo is amazing, friendly and loves what she does. Food and service are great. They did a great job decorating for cinco de mayo! Highly recommend bringing your family here for lunch or dinner!
