Nice staff. Very fast service even though we went in 45 minutes before close. The food was good and spicy. Not too spicy even with Thai hot. Reasonable prices for San Jose.

Had a recent experience at a Thai restaurant – service was exceptional, but the food left room for improvement. The papaya salad had an appealing presentation, but the green beans seemed past their prime. The tom yum soup was ok but overpriced at 7$. The fried chicken wings were on the dry side, lacking moisture. The chicken basil fried rice, though flavorful, was a bit heavy on the oil with minimal basil. Recognizing the challenges in the restaurant business, I believe in giving any place a second chance. We all need that opportunity to shine!

Overall, the food was good, but the Pad Kee Mao didn’t meet my expectations. It was quite salty and greasy and didn’t hit the mark for me.

This is an updated review as on our last visit to Thai Orchid in San Jose we noticed the quality of the food has declined. It is under new ownership as the food tastes heavily of MSG and was extremely salty. Sadly, post covid you can tell the food is not fresh anymore.
We like having dinner at Thai Orchid during the weekdays because it’s less crowded than the lunch hour. It’s pretty quiet unless noisy customers are having dinner. The food is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. The wait time for our dinner is decent, no long wait times. The portion sizes are good for sharing with family or friends. Parking is free.

Weekday lunch time it was quite busy. Food is ok. The pad Thai was super sweet, the appetizers were ok. The sticky mango rice the mango was very sour.

Good food and service but would probably not call this place serving authentic Thai (green peas?). Nevertheless the food is still good with the special “wok taste” for both the pad Thai and pineapple fried rice.

I ordered a chicken curry for take-away, but when I got back to my hotel, I realized they didn’t include any utensils. The chicken was quite dry, and I barely ate much. The portion was also quite small. Additionally, the menu listed the curry as $17, but I was charged $21 for some reason. A bit disappointing overall.

Lot of Vegetarian options. Fried Tofu with Dipping was delicious for the starter. Main dish with PadThai Noodle. They can customize as per your needs. Good balance of Veggies in the bowl. If you need spicy, You will need to specify them or you might get the medium spicy food. Such a nice Decoration indoor to give you the Thai Feel! Such a nice family own restaurant. Very polite service.

Nice little place to try Thai cuisine. Even mildly spicy option was enough to make me sweat
Prices are low and portion size is reasonable.
Very friendly and polite service.
They don’t have much drinks choice.
Interior is very simple, but they have some interesting art pieces on the walls.
On weekday evening the place was almost empty, we got the table right away and didn’t wait long for our meal to be ready.

This is my favorite restaurant in North San Jose that has been open for a long time! Be sure to order the curry noodles! And the basil they use is really fresh
