Great food and service. Not your normal Italian restaurant. More like mommy’s with a professional touch. Chairs could be softer.

The food was fine, but uneven. Some of the swordfish in the pasta was dry, some was good. The tomato salad was okay, it didn’t do much with the tomato. The black bass was really good, tender and crispy outside, and the dressing really lifted the flavors.

I felt the waitress was rushing me. She stood by the table while I was taking the last portion of the salad, and she took the plates twice literally while I was eating. The place looked nice, but it was extremely loud. Even though loud is the sad trend in NYC now, the noise level here was off the charts and for that reason alone I can’t recommend it, but adding the bad service, I really don’t want to be back.

It was such a treat to dine at Roman’s in mid-October. I came on a rainy night, and the soft glow inside was inviting and warm. All of the food was delightful to the senses and DELICIOUS.

It would be hard to pick a favorite thing from the menu, since it was all so good (and since their menu updates all the time), but my table couldn’t stop eating the Fava Bean Puree. All hail Chef Hannah and her team!

Not for nothing, it’s also really nice to support an establishment that’s committed to making the industry more sustainable for all who work in it.

Thank you so much for a wonderful special occasion dinner–I hope to return!

The food was very nice and the atmosphere is cozy. Our waitress was really attentive as well.
Only negative point is that the dessert menu was a bit one sided. But I guess that changes since the menu had the date on it too.

LOVE. Couldn’t decide so we did all three of the pastas, and the 3 ppl at the table all found a different favorite. Every pasta dish was amazing and their drinks were interesting + refreshing. I personally didn’t love the tomato-y martini drink but it was still nice to sip.

Between food/drinks (1-2 rounds) we spent $100/pp

Got a res & sat at the bar for two on a Saturday. Not loud, enough space to not feel cramped, great space.

Ordered the flank steak and scallop entrees, and olives as the starter. I cannot make this up, the scallop dish was one of the best dishes I’ve had in NYC. The sweetness of the scallop, matching with the salty-citrus broth it came with… WOW! Bring it back! Cabbage, mushrooms, and sweet potato was great too. Very, VERY happy about this dish.

Flank steak was also very good, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the chimichurri sauce was very good. It was accompanied by a flavorful & elevated rice and beans. Didn’t wow me, but you can taste the quality and flavor.

Drinks great, and the warmed olives are yummy.

1st: Everything was great! The experience demonstrates that they are doing things well because they care! Food was delicious! Drinks were great! Staff was gracious!

2nd: We dined at Roman’s, and it was an experience worth sharing. The ambiance of the restaurant is both cozy and elegant, with its beautifully lit chandeliers and warm, inviting decor.

From the menu, I had the fava bean puree and linguine, which were both absolutely delicious. The fava bean puree had a wonderful texture and flavor, while the linguine with baccala, onions, and capers was perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty. Additionally, we tried the striped bass, which was a delightful dish, cooked to perfection with a great balance of flavors.

What truly made the experience memorable was the staff. They were gracious, generous, and friendly, going out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their attentiveness was especially appreciated as we had our toddler with us, and they were wonderfully accommodating and kind.

Overall, Roman’s offers not only excellent food but also an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. It’s a place where you can enjoy a fantastic meal while feeling completely at ease.

If I could rate as a zero I would. I complained about one dish (while complimenting others) and they gaslighted me, saying that others loved the dish and they really didn’t understand why I didn’t like it. The manager then claimed that I said “I was happy to eat it…” and that’s why they didn’t take it off the bill. Overall, the servers created an extremely unpleasant evening by arguing with me and saying that I said things I did not say.

Roman’s
Est. 2009

Layout/atmosphere
*Marble bar area (10 stools); ten tables all in one room; candlelight; tables on sidewalk
[Actor Dave Foley was seated at the bar with a guest]

Service
*Good

Food/drink
*Burrata, tomatoes, nectarines, and basil (with complimentary bread) – the burrata was good, I liked the nectarines but the remaining accompaniments didn’t impress
*Mezzi rigatoni, ‘nduja, and corn – pasta was fresh, sauce was light but didn’t impress

The food was delicious and fresh. Peas are in season and they used a lot of it, tasted so fresh. My favorite was they whipped ricotta. None of the dishes are over seasons or doused with sauce, so the ingredients really stand out. Only complaint was the place was small and which I don’t mind but sound wise it was really loud with everyone talking around us.
