We ordered delivery at 10 PM, but the location was open until 2 AM, so this should not have been an issue. We ordered one medium pizza via phone directly to the restaurant, and the employee said it would arrive in 45 minutes. At 11:30 PM, we called the restaurant to check as it had been double the time we were told our pizza would arrive and the website was not updating our order. They said they were working on it. Mind you, the Papa John’s was only 2 miles from our location.
Finally at 12:00 AM, 2 hours after we placed our order, we get a notification that our pizza has been assigned a DoorDash driver. We were very upset to find this out, as we purposefully ordered through Papa John’s to avoid a DoorDash delivery, given that DoorDash is known to assign multiple orders to a driver, resulting in cold food. But oh well, at least we would be getting our pizza.
At 12:35 AM, our order was delivered. Except, it was not the pizza we ordered, but instead an order of breadsticks. We were completely disappointed and thought the driver had mixed up orders. Then, we checked the box and it had my name and the pizza order on the box. So actually, Papa John’s had placed the wrong order in the box.
We were obviously disappointed, but the restaurant was going to be open for another 1.5 hours, enough time for them to make and deliver the correct order. So, I attempted to call the restaurant and they would not pick up my call. A friend who had not placed the order then called, and they picked up immediately. When she stated why she was calling, they said they would get a manger and placed her on hold. They did not pick up the phone again and she was on hold for 15 minutes before they hung up her call. Another friend then attempted to call, and her call went unanswered.
Finally, I called corporate, and they said they would have to speak with the location before refunding our order. It wasn’t until 2 days later that I did hear from someone at Papa John’s stating they “would like to apologize to you for the late service that you have recently received” and that I could call or email to speak more about it. I sent an email immediately explaining what happened and it took 3 follow ups and 2 weeks (!!!) to finally hear that a refund would be sent in 3-5 business days. It has since been 5 business days and that refund has yet to be posted.
I am so disappointed by the lack of accountability and customer service from this Papa John’s location. So much so that we will never be ordering from Papa John’s again. And I recommend that you avoid this location at all cost.
When I placed the order, I believed I was speaking directly with the location. I later learned it was a call center, which was never disclosed. I was asked to spell my last name (Townsend), which I did carefully. I received the total, pickup time, and an email confirmation stating the order was ready for pickup.
When my husband arrived, he was told there was no order under Townsend. I was later told it was under “Tiffany X.” I am unsure how “X” was derived from Townsend after spelling it out. The confirmation email did not list a last name at all, and since I was at home with the email, my husband did not have it.
He ultimately left without the pizza and came home understandably frustrated. When I contacted the store and spoke with the manager, Mike, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. I was simply told, “The pizza is here if you want it.”
Mistakes can happen, but how they are handled makes all the difference. This location would benefit from stronger customer service leadership and training, particularly in how concerns are handled and resolved. I will also be addressing this matter with corporate leadership so it does not go unnoticed.
This experience was extremely disappointing, especially for first-time customers.
Before my order was successfully canceled they were gonna call the police on ME!!!
All she had to do was wash her hands before she started making food for other people!!! Wash you damn hands!!!!
I am shocked by this. I have never had an issue before.
Edit: I was so frustrated with the pizza that I didn’t even initially notice it is also the wrong pizza. I ordered a Hawaiian and got this abomination
