Fourth stop for the day on the fourth leg of RI FOOD FIGHTS Lord of the Pies event. Three down, three to go. Stomach getting full but still functional..
The Bike Stop Cafe in Narragansett has been around since 2013. The restaurant lives up to the name. Bikes mounted on the walls and ceiling. Not subtle about the theme but it works and makes for a unique atmosphere. Bar area, tables, that comfortable casual vibe that makes you want to stick around. Colorful lighting, laid back people and things surround you.
We started with French bread pizza as an appetizer. Because… of course you do that. The French bread pizza was softer than I expected, but the bread was tasty and good quality, with a thick, herby sauce and good quality cheese. Unexpected, but not disappointing.
Then the wood fired pizzas. Got both a chicken and pepperoni. The wood fired oven shows up in the char. Heavy leopard spotting on the crust, those dark blistered edges that come from real heat. The crust itself has good structure, holds up well, floppy, but tasty.
The chicken pizza featured actual pieces of chicken breast that they cook in house. Not processed, not pre-cooked frozen stuff. Real chicken cut into chunks. That matters. The pepperoni was hand cut and spicy. Good quality meat, proper cupping, adds the right kick.
But here’s the thing. The sauce has this spice in it that registers as cinnamon or some herb that doesn’t belong on pizza. It’s subtle but it’s there. Reminded our group of Indian food somehow. Not in a good way. It simply threw the flavor profile off.
Everything else works. The toppings are quality. The crust delivers. The char from the wood oven is real. The service was excellent. Super friendly staff, attentive, genuinely nice people who seem happy to be there.
The space itself is cool. Comfortable. The kind of place where families and groups can settle in. There’s a full menu beyond pizza if that’s your thing.
Fourth stop of six. Starting to feel it but The Bike Stop Cafe made it easy with good service and a laid back vibe. If they’d dial back whatever that spice is in the sauce, this would be a completely different conversation. As it stands, it’s a solid neighborhood spot with good people making decent pizza that just has one flavor note that doesn’t quite land.

Last night was the first time I’d visited the Bike Stop Cafe. It was for an event and the staff was very well prepared. We had several very large groups show up at the same time and everyone was served in a timely manner. There was food ready for us which was delicious! I was very impressed with their organizational skills to handle such a large crowd and I’ll be going back soon to enjoy a more intimate time.

The amount of years I lived here where my buddies and I would grab a pizza at the Bike Stop and play basketball on Boon. To come back and not see a full house has put strain on my heart. I love this light pizza with savory sauce, I could eat a whole pizza and want more. It’s tourist season but I hope this place stays open forever.

Great food but service was not the best. It wasn’t busy but it felt like the waitress was never around. Loved my food but it seemed like it was sitting for a bit before It was brought to my table. ( chicken on my quinoa bowl didnt have s great texture (like it was microwaved)

I know I am a little bias as I grew up going to school with Casey, however, the pizzas we had for dinner to celebrate my mother’s 84th birthday was very delicious and the service was quick, friendly and very attentive. If you haven’t eaten here or had food from here, don’t wait and try it out. Thank you Casey for always supporting the community.

The best GF pizza in town. Actually, the best GF pizza I’ve ever had. They make their own crust and it’s different from the traditional type of pizza crust, so don’t expect an exact gluten replica… but is it SOO good. If I want pizza I’m going to (or getting takeout from) Bike Stop. This is the Down Hiller. I also love the Truffle Oil pizza with added artichokes.

Visiting from Philly for the second summer. This place has AMAZING brick oven pizza, the vibe is super friendly and low key, and generally they’ve been able to accommodate our party of 7 with no wait or very short wait. Good beer list, the wings are solid, salads are huge and fresh. I haven’t had the tacos but they look great. I really love this place. If you’re looking for something that is the opposite of the loud and busy (and very mediocre) boon street market across the street, this is for you. Also kid friendly, with shuffleboard and some arcade games, plus bball courts and playground right across the street.

Great place, had pizza and mussels for lunch. Both were good, mussels in spicy tia sauce was really good. Nice portion too. Pizza was not my style but flavor was great and crunchy crust. It’s a must stop if in the area.

I headed to @bikestopcafe for their entry into the @rifoodfights #lordofthewings challenge. These wings are fancy and came out in their own cast iron skillets. They were out of the cast iron sticky wings last year so I was excited to try them. These wings are baked in their wood fired oven in a sweet Asian inspired sauce. And boy are they sticky! More importantly, they are good. Baked wings can be hit or miss with me but I found myself enjoying these. The sauce was sweet and tangy and I found myself wishing I had one mor, not because I was hungry, but just for the flavor. Another solid entry

We took a large group there last night with several dietary restrictions and it was great! They had vegan for one person, vegetarian for another person, and gluten free for another. And everyone loved their meals. Special shout out to our waiter, Tracy, who rolled with all of this and was just outstanding. Plus, she gave us tips of things to do in the area. I highly recommend this place!
