A charming establishment, great to stop off at on a roadtrip. The prices were a bit high..and the salad bar was nice, but you’re only limited to one trip with a rather humble-sized plate. I’m surprised they wouldn’t let you go twice.
The sandwiches were tasty (but would to try the Grilled Trout Sandwich next time. The Fried was a tad oily). The burger was solid though- and the fries were REALLY good. Friendly service and lots of neat decor to take in.

The service and atmosphere here is wonderful, the interior really looks like you stepped back in time to a 1950’s diner, and the staff is so nice. The food is incredibly satisfying as well, and you feel like it was cooked in someone’s mother’s kitchen. Get the Amish hamburger steak with gravy and mashed potatoes, so delicious! The lemon and berry cake for dessert is a must also!

My son and I visited this wonderful restaurant today for the first time and will be returning. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. Today we had the patty melt burger and High’s fries and the grilled cheese sandwich and Highs fries, my son ate his and a lot of mine haha. Afterwards the waitress was kind to make my son a special ice cream request and he enjoyed that as well. I will return, I want to try the trout and from the looks of two that were made in front of me, I will return to try a banana split as well. Please stop by here if you are in town and enjoy the rest of the quaint little town of Monterey.

The entrees were very tasty, but my wife and I were unimpressed with the sides. Not bad, but my guess is that most start with opening a can… For the price, I expected a more “home made” experience. The dessert was also delicious and my wife LOVED her milkshake! Servers were top-notch! I’d recommend you check them out, but pay attention to the prices on the menu when you order so you don’t get surprised when you get the bill. I hope to get back someday to try the pie! It looked terrific!

First, I’m happy to report that my experience aligned with my friend’s raving of High’s Restaurant.
After a few disappointments, food wise (while in this area), I finally had the pleasure to be truly satisfied with my experience of High’s Restaurant.
Let’s start with the customer service here. At minimum, the rating for the service here is SUPERB. Our waitress was super kind, engaging, prompt, and warm.
The food. The portions here are massive with great price points. I started with a cup of the Kickin’ Crab Soup, which was flavored fairly well. However, there wasn’t any crab chunks in the soup, which was a tad disappointing. I then had the Rodeo Burger, which was just what I needed! The pairing of the bbq sauce was such a great decision. Even though this burger was good, what would have made it excellent (to me) was a little bit more seasoning on the beef patty. The fries!… Were simply made to perfection. Even after microwaving (which took away the crisp), I still thoroughly enjoyed the fries.
We then left lol and came back for a milkshake which was excellent! I had a half Oreo and half Butterfingers milkshake , which was everything my tastebuds desired.
Whenever back in the area, it will definitely be my vote to revisit High’s Restaurant.

Me and my friend were out for a Sunday cruise and I ended up about 115 mi from my house at Highs Restaurant . Food was absolutely delicious. People were the best you could ever come across. Felt like home to me. A+ All the way. I

What a great, unexpected find! We were passing through Monterey on a Friday evening around supper time. High’s Restaurant looked like a good choice. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We loved the 50’s diner vibe. The staff was incredible and attentive. They were very friendly and our drinks were always refilled even though they were quite busy. The food was delicious! My husband had the hamburger steak and added jalapeños. It was superb. I had the pork chops and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The portions were hefty, the sweet tea was just like Granny’s, and the lemon berry cake with coffee was delightful! Would highly recommend stopping on your way through or even using it as an excuse for a little road trip.

High’s Restaurant was amazing! The food was “high” class, very fresh and delicious! The service was great! We had the honor of watching the owner and staff serve a party of 27. They did it like it was an everyday occurance. I can’t wait to go back!

Lovely place!! While staying at a hotel across the street, we ventured out on a cold stormy night and found ourselves in a welcoming, warm restaurant amid regulars. Such a great experience! The food was really good. Our waitress, working all the tables, didn’t miss a beat. Always helpful and attentive. The strawberry rhubarb pie was outstanding.
Bonus, they have doggie meals on the menu

Katrina and Paul are the Best Servers . They always make you feel welcome and go above and beyond on customer service. On Fridays, we like to get their maple bacon, bacon, jam burgers. Great atmosphere …awesome milkshakes. We always take our family there or anybody that comes to visit Monterey.
