This would easily be one of our top choices for special occasions based on the food alone. Huge compliments to the chefs and kitchen team.
We walked in without a booking and were happy to sit in the outdoor walk-in area. However, from the moment we arrived the service felt quite cold and there wasn’t much of a welcome or smile from the waitresses , and when menus were brought over there was no explanation of the dishes. We noticed other tables receiving a warmer introduction, which made the experience feel a little uneven.
At one point the other table became free before our food arrived, and we politely asked if we could move ( as we were sharing the table with another group but we were happy to but since one became free)
We were told yes but didn’t receive assistance, so we ended up moving the table ourselves.
Toward the end of the meal, when we asked about dessert, the service did feel noticeably more friendly, which we appreciated though the initial impression had already shaped the experience.
We completely understand the casual style of the restaurant, but a small gesture of friendliness or smile would have made a big difference to how welcome we felt.
That said, the food truly is exceptional and memorable. We still would love to return, and hope the front-of-house warmth can match the incredible standard coming from the kitchen
Every dish was consistently impressive, which is a feat in itself. My personal favourite was the duck tacos and the peach bomb Alaska- was bomb
Service was on point. Our waiter was extremely attentive and accomodating. Their attention to detail made our experience all the more memorable.
The atmosphere is nice and you can’t beat it on a great sunny day. One small thing was there definitely a lot of locals and regulars and since we weren’t we felt that it was a different treatment where our server was more in a rush and abrupt while keen to chat with the locals. Don’t mind it and he was still great but it’s just noticeably different experiences.
Food wise there’s a lot of Mexican inspiration and we enjoyed it a lot. Tacos were excellent and probably our favourite and it just pairs well with some cocktails which was excellent. No real standout dishes from what we tried but all were pretty good.
Overall a great spot for a bite, delicious and decent location too away from hustle and bustle with a more relaxed vibe.
Favourite dish was their prawn tostada and dessert was great, best Sticky Toffee Pudding in Auckland.
5 stars, worth the visit.
Menu has a sharing menu and mains.
I had the raw fish, he had the kimchi inspired dish and they had the main fish dish.
I had to have the toffee pudding dessert which was top notch.
Our sharing dishes were packed with flavour. Just the right portion and filling.
Would recommend stopping by.
The staff are friendly and helpful. And resilient (because my friend was initially rude). Very impressive.
