Absolutely incredible experience at The Naisho Room by Wren.

We did the 21-course omakase, and every single dish hit. Not one miss. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients and the level of care behind each plate. The creativity from the chef really shows. Every bite felt intentional, balanced, and unique. Nothing was overdone or gimmicky. Each course highlighted the ingredients perfectly and built on the last.

It honestly felt like a culinary story unfolding. The flavors kept climbing the entire time. Surprise after surprise, all in the best way. One of those meals where you pause after a bite just to process how good it is.

Service matched the food. Warm, welcoming, and attentive without ever hovering. They made the whole experience feel personal and special.

Hands down one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had. If you’re on the fence, go. It’s worth every penny.

If you didn’t know this place existed, you’d walk right past it — and that’s exactly the point.

Naisho Room is a sushi speakeasy tucked behind the sauna room of a hotel gym in Tysons, and finding it already feels like part of the experience. Once inside, the vibe is intimate, moody, and intentional — perfect for a date night or a “let’s try something different” evening.

We ordered a wide spread and honestly didn’t miss once:

• Japanese cocktails — well balanced and thoughtfully crafted
• All of the hand rolls — fresh fish, clean flavors, and perfectly seasoned rice with a hint of sesame oil
• Lobster tempura — light, crispy, and not greasy
• Stuffed shishito peppers — just the right kick
• Wagyu rice bowl — rich, indulgent, and comforting
• Kanpachi — clean, delicate, and beautifully presented
• Crème brûlée — a smooth, torch-crack finish to the meal

Service was attentive without hovering, and the pacing of the meal felt deliberate rather than rushed. Prices align with the quality and the experience — this is not casual takeout sushi, but a destination-worthy spot.

The Naisho Room is an absolute must-visit! I went to their speakeasy located in the Watermark Hotel, and it completely exceeded my expectations. When you arrive, check in at the small table in the lobby, then head upstairs to the gym, you honestly have no idea where you’re going next, which adds to the fun. From there, you move through a sauna (with a cool smoke/steam effect!) and finally enter the main space, which has an incredible Tokyo nightlife vibe. The origami-themed decor and lighting make it feel like night-time in Tokyo.

The Naisho Room tends to be a dessert and drinks after dinner. They do have an amazing food menu, but limited. Everything on their food menu was delicious especially the rolls. Their in-house ice cream is a must, matcha and miso were my picks. My friend was wary of the miso, but it ended up being my favorite, tasting like rich caramel. The crème brûlée is fantastic, and the donuts are divine. Their hand rolls are also top-notch, every dish I tried was delicious. Drinks are excellent too; I especially loved the ube cocktail.

Reservations are made via Instagram, where you get a code to enter. They also have a separate okasake section, which adds another fun element to the experience. This is definitely a spot for a romantic date night or a special night out. Many speakeasies don’t live up to the hype, but it absolutely does, they nailed both the food and the ambiance. Highly, highly recommend!

I came here to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and it was such a great experience. Reservations are required, and it’s totally worth it. The vibes are on point—great music, great energy, and a really fun atmosphere.

The food was amazing—delicious dishes, cocktails, and desserts. We ended up ordering almost everything on the menu and loved it all. My favorites were the Wagyu beef rice and the matcha ice cream

The staff were all so kind and welcoming. It’s a perfect spot to hang out at the bar, and they also offer omakase.
Definitely coming back for a date night!

Decided to try this hidden gem (wink wink) while staying at a nearby hotel. If you know, you know. The entrance alone is incredibly unique, and the interior design does not disappoint. This quaint Japanese-inspired speakeasy was such a delightful surprise in so many ways.

We came here on a whim to celebrate my birthday, and I’m so glad we did. My husband, my bestie, and I started with the Wagyu tendon chips—phenomenal. Definitely a treat if you’ve never had them. Think upscale pork rinds taken to the highest level. We also shared the mini Wagyu kamameshi, which was soooo delightful. The presentation was unexpected—the meat arrives raw, but the heat from the bowl slowly cooks it into the rice. The result? Flavors that absolutely burst in your mouth, with top-tier Wagyu that delivers on every level.

For drinks, the bartender made me a lemon drop with Haku Vodka. I’d never tried it before, but wow—it was incredibly smooth. My friend ordered a cocktail with Roku Gin and had zero complaints. I think real alcoholics drink gin… but that’s another story.

Between the ambiance, amazing company, and excellent customer service, I’d absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking to try something new. It’s also perfect for an after-dinner stop or impressing out-of-town guests. This speakeasy is truly a destination.

The only drawback is that the space is a bit tiny, and prices are definitely up there—but honestly, they’re on par for the area. This place earns a solid 4.5 from me, but since Yelp doesn’t honor half stars, I’ll round it up to a 5.

The sushi was quite decent, and the price was on the high end but probably in line with what you can expect at a hotel restaurant (although still quite high for the area).

Got the variety plate, and enjoyed.

My only complaint is the price of the drinks, especially the Sake. They charge 12-16 dollars for a single 3oz micro-cup of the same brands you can get elsewhere for 1/3rd the price. Daikaya for example sells you the entire 10oz bottle for 12 dollars and there’s significant overlap in brands and variety. This just felt like being skinflinted for no reason and hoping people don’t notice the size until it arrives at the table.

Food and drinks were okay. It’s a hit or miss. The creme brûlé could use some work. Service and atmosphere was fine. Not sure how I felt about the dj playing really loudly at night, kind of made my friends and I leave and go down stairs to the hotel bar which we all preferred. I think the main fun of it was how it was hidden. Seemed kind of empty when we went and it said that there were no other reservations available…

Randomly stumbled across this speakeasy inside of The Watermark Hotel as we were staying there and was lucky enough to reserve a table before they officially announced their opening.

I usually post photos along with my reviews, but the hostess placed a sticker on my phone’s camera and asked that we don’t take photos or videos inside. I did take a photo of the origami invite from my hotel room though.

The entrance to the space is definitely unique. And once you’re inside, it feels like you’ve been transported to Japan.

A decent amount of food options that are more like small, bite-sized dishes. Everything we had was delicious, but the wagyu rice bowl was definitely the best.

Cocktails were all great with plenty of liquor options as well. After a few cocktails, I opted for some Japanese whiskey to end the night.

It is a true speakeasy, very hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for!

1. Service: 5 stars
Polite, fast.

2. Drinks: 5 stars
Very good, delicious, beautifully decorated.

3. Food: 4 stars. Quite good, not as good as Wren.

4. The view: much higher up than View, so it has a better view.

5. Ambience: dark, sexy, intimate.

They block your phone camera… there shouldn’t be any picture of this place.

Highly recommend! Compared to all speakeasys in DMV, this one is the only legit hard to find one!

We did the Omakase experience for my birthday tonight and it was an awesome experience! James was the head chef that served us and Kevin was our waiter. They both gave us excellent service and were very detailed in telling us each piece of the Omakase menu. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Hope to be back again soon
