Some dining adventures can be sheer magic. Such was our experience this past Saturday night when we took out of state family to Alchemy for dinner. it was a magical mix of wine, weather and a professional wait staff who took fantastic care of us. Kudo’s to Christian, a great waiter, who saw to everything … from dinner selections and a great wine pairing. The Caesar salad was a cut above, but the fig salad sent our taste buds into orbit. My filet was grilled as requested … medium rare. Evan , the new chef found ae free minute to come out of the kitchen and introduce himself. His outward, embracing personality is reflected in his cooking. Reservations are a good idea.

We make the drive up to Portland twice a year and always stay in Ashland for two to three nights. Alchemy is one of our favorite restaurants on the entire trip. The food and service make you feel like you’re dining in St. Helena. Absolutely delicious!

We had a fantastic experience at Alchemy and we will be returning for sure. The food was amazing and worth going just for that but the service impressed us just as much. We made a last minute reservation for our anniversary and they were able to get us in which was great. The staff were attentive but not over bearing and they answered our questions and made sure we had what we needed. Our server was brilliant and he made our dining experience top notch.
The atmosphere is quiet and intimate inside and the outdoor seating was spacious and peaceful. As we were leaving the deer were meandering up the hill.
The aged ribeye was perfect and absolutely huge. The lamb shank was delicious and tender. Everything had amazing flavors without being overwhelming. The drinks were pleasant as well.
I would recommend Alchemy for a special celebration or just a pleasant evening out.

My partner and I came in for dinner and our experience was great! The drinks and food were very delicious. The lamb tartare is a must try as our server Kidd was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. It was a busy night and our food came out promptly. Kidd’s recommendations were spot and he helped make our evening special. We would have preferred to sit outside but Mother Nature had other plans. We look forward to coming back.

The food on the other hand had some issues.
1. The scallop appetizer comes with three scallops. There were four of us. We indicated we would be happy to pay a bit more to have a fourth scallop added. We were given a lame excuse about keeping the count correct.
2. The duck dish was good but not up to the price level. The breast portion was a bit tough.
3. The filet mignon had a hunk of gristle and too much fat. Not what I would expect at a dining establishment of this caliber.

Wow, Alchemy continues to impress! New Year’s Eve dinner – unusual and tasty warm winter salad, petrale sole with Dungeness crab in a light bearnaise sauce, paired with a well-chosen Chehalem Three Vineyard riesling. The mocha mousse was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Service was Michelin-class.

Don’t let the charming and demure look of this face fool you! This is fine dining at its finest! Thank you for such a beautiful dining experience! I am from Redding but was in Ashland for the evening for an audition, so I decided that I wanted to indulge and try a fancy restaurant while I was there. The Alchemy did not disappoint, the exterior is charming, but everything else about the restaurant offers a punch! The outside garden was beautiful and a perfect setting to eat, because of Ashland’s cooler evenings. The food was fantastic! I also chose this restaurant because I wanted to try some different foods. It was my first time trying duck and it was cooked perfectly. The duck with the cohesive, melt in your mouth croissant pot pie was a magical bite! The salad was also a great touch! The truffle pomme frites (french fries) were absolutely too die for. They were so crispy and quite honestly the best fries I’ve ever had! I ended my dinner with the chocolate fondant! Do not sleep on this dessert! Absolutely heavenly! The rich chocolate, couple with the caramel and passion fruit drizzle and honeycomb, make you sing with each bite! 10/10 dining experience.
The service was also great! Shoutout to Alaine who took great care of me! I would say it did take quite awhile to for the main course to come out, but I am not sure if that is because there was an issue or if that was the normal cook time for the duck. However, other than that the service was impeccable!
The best part for me though was that I left the restaurant and didn’t feel heavy from the food, and was able to make the 2 hour drive back to Redding without feeling uncomfortable or tired from all the food I eat! This must be a testament to how fresh and quality the ingredients are in the food! Bravo! Tutti! And compliments to the chef!

Wow, wow, wow! My first dining experience at Alchemy did not disappoint. From the curb appeal to the dessert it was pure perfection. Hands down best entrée I’ve had in a restaurant! This steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Honestly, this was a culinary experience I wasn’t expecting but was delighted to have! The ambiance of the “bar” was incredible and I would highly recommend over the dining room as it just has something special about it with the wood and windows. Great for girlfriends out on the town and sensual enough for date night with your lover.

Lovely restaurant/bar with elevated cocktails. The cocktail menus changes often and they don’t replace the ingredients, so there’s no point in posting which ones we liked. We just ordered bread because we weren’t very hungry. They served several types of bread with three kinds of butter. We had a very nice time and will return when in the area. Street parking only.
