We had Taco Locos, Beef Empandas, Pork Tamales, Chicken Sopes, Grilled Chicken Quesadilla, and Pork Chili Verde.
None of it disappointed for a So Cal guy living and driving through the MidWest.
Lupe (owner) is awesome to chat with as well.
Yes, the prices are a little on the high side—$17 for an order of tacos al pastor and a bottle of water—but they were absolutely worth it. The tacos came with two types of salsa: a milder green and a spicier red. I went with the green, and it paired perfectly with the flavorful pork, fresh onion, cilantro, and pineapple. The tortillas tasted fresh and homemade—small, soft corn tortillas that really brought it all together.
Gosh, these were good. If I lived in Colby, I’d be a regular. I honestly wish I could find tacos this good back home in Charlotte, North Carolina.
If you’re in Colby or just passing through, this place is 100% worth a stop. It’s just off Exit 53 and only a couple of minutes north of the interstate. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I pass through—if it’s anywhere near lunchtime, or even if I’m remotely hungry!
My wife got the pork tamales. Great flavor, tender meat, and the tamales were moist – *not* greasy. A LOT of places sell dry tamales that you have to wash down with salsa or hot sauce. Not the case with these. 5/5
I got the tacos locos, because I was feeling a little crazy (and indecisive). It has all five of their meats on each taco—pork, steak, chorizo, al pastor, and chicken. Most of the time, you’d think those flavors maybe wouldn’t necessarily mesh well together, but it’s like each meat was an individual instrument in a symphony—each held its own but contributed to the whole taco without detracting from it. Great option if you’re unable to make a decision, or you’re just feeling a little loco. 5/5
My 1-year-old son got the chicken quesadillas. Not too spicy for his youthful palate, but packed with flavor and chihuahua cheese tying it all together. He can be picky as well, and he ate up his portion, and we ate the rest . 5/5
Not to forget…the salsas were delightful. The green sauce was flavorful and not too spicy. The red sauce had more spice and combined that with even more flavor. Make it Christmas (IYKYK). 5/5
All in all, this truck rivals the best of the best from the dozens and dozens of taco trucks I’ve had over the years. All served up with the friendliness of a staff that only western Kansas can deliver on. Would rate Los Jarochos 10 stars if I could!
Making a long trip and happen to find this on Google maps.
Super tasty quesadilla and Chile Verde!
The owner of the food truck was very friendly and quick as well.
Well worth a stop
We got the tacos locos with myself thinking it was 5 separate meats on 5 separate tacos but all the meats were mixed together on each taco (hence “locos”). I was disappointed until I took my first bite and found they were surprisingly well balanced with incredible salsas!
I’d still like to try the meats separately at some point but these are super good regardless.
I was disappointed when I found that they didn’t have an ala carte menu as I really wanted to try a tamale without having to buy an entire tamale meal. The lady, while resistant at first gave in and graciously let me order a single tamale so I could try it. Great customer service!
The tamale’s masa was mild with almost a touch of sweetness that contrasted really well with the slightly spicy pork inside.
10/10 will come here again when passing through!
