Neighborhood stop serves up diner-style dishes through mid-afternoon in a casual setting.

The food was good, if you don’t like very salty pork butt and tough to eat. The grits and shrimp were really good. Friendly Service. Chicken salad , avocado toast – were very tasty

We stumbled upon this place after shopping at Pasadena City College and weren’t disappointed. It was a rainy day so the outside seating wasn’t being used, and their was a line for inside seating. Despite them being extremely busy, the staff was hustling to accommodate everyone with their inside seating. The front room was packed and the seating was intimate, but it never felt tight, and there was seating at the rear as well. They have a retro look, but the food is a combo of old American classics like French Toast, but also items like Chilaquiles and other outliers I didn’t expect to see. I was surprised how soon the food arrived. They should rename their house potatoes to Goldilocks potatoes, because they’re not too crunchy, and not too soft, but just right. Some of the best potatoes we’ve ever had, no joke. The side of Chicken sausage was incredibly juicy and tender, cooked to perfection, and the French Toast light and fluffy. The Goddess omelet was chock full of veggies that were quickly scarfed down. We were completely full at the end. Fox’s is definitely a place we would return to try some of the other menu items.

Its a friendly little spot on Lake Ave you find as you head North towards the hills. They have a little bit of everything. I can say that I liked the majority of what I tasted and even that which I didn’t favor was fresh and well prepared. I need to go back to try their Salted Caramel cheesecake

I went there for brunch with friends and the only thing we wanted more of was wait staff. However, we assume it’s due to the pandemic. On the bright side, the food was exquisite. My rueben sandwich and pozole were perfect. When I ordered the pozole, I was skeptical, but man they did it right. The dollop of sour cream was well-placed. My partner had the sweet potato and shrimp hash which she found to be delicious and the shrimp was very well-cooked, given how easy it is to overcook it. The sangria was delicious. The fruit inside was fresh and far from soggy. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, just like the atmosphere. My partner and I are already talking about our subsequent return.

We love this cozy, local spot! They have a great combination of diner classics along with a bunch of creative and delicious dishes (for example, the sweet potato donuts).
Make sure to grab a piece of cake or pie to go!

I had to drive an hour and a few minutes west to Altadena to pick up some artwork I bought online and having never been there before, the first thing I did was Google “places to eat in Altadena.” I’m not big on American food, with one exception: diners. I love diners. And I LOVE fish and chips. When I saw this place I knew I had to check it out. I love Foxes too, so the sign immediately got my attention. It’s a tiny little place. I guess it’s been there forever. And it looks like it’s been there forever. Retro furniture, the retro star wallpaper, and the red and black checkered floors were such a welcome sight to my vintage loving soul. The service was friendly. The customers were diverse. All ages, shapes, sizes and colors. All good things. They had a menu board with a variety of different pies but they were all sold out. We went at like 1pm on a Tuesday though so for a place that closes at 2, we showed up too late I guess. And that’s not a complaint. That just tells me that they’re worth showing up earlier for. I got the fish and chips. I get fish and chips everywhere I go that has it more or less and I don’t make this statement lightly- this was the best I’ve ever had. The breading was crisp but soft at the same time, like a funnel cake texture almost. The fries were perfect. They tasted like the fresh cut ones I’d get at the fair every fall growing up. The grilled lemon was a nice touch. My husband had breakfast, French toast, eggs, bacon, and the house made sausage. He loved it. There wasn’t anything left on either of our plates. So how good is this place? Let me put it this way…it took me longer to drive here one way than it did to get my food and eat it, and I work night shift where I usually sleep on my days off till 5-6 pm, and this place closes at 2pm…and I fully intend to make this a regular destination. Five stars, no question! If you love diners, check it out. It wasn’t my reason for coming to Altadena today, but it will be the reason I return. We are new to California and this is definitely going to be one of our spots. Great prices and big portions. Love it!

I have nothing bad to say about this place. Everything was wonderful! The wait staff were very nice and very informative. Almost everything there is made in house. Everything we ate was perfection. I had the shrimp and grits- awesome! And my boyfriend had the fish and chips and they were fantastic! The desserts were absolutely delicious and decadent! Will definitely be back! Maybe tonight! but really, I want to try everything on the menu!!

Stopped by on a Friday around noon. There is no parking lot, just street parking. The restaurant is small but they seat you quite quickly. It has a retro look/feel to it. Our waitress was a nice older lady.
We ordered pancakes, house potatoes, and Chorizo burrito. The pancakes were fluffy and definitely had a nice homemade taste to it. It definitely will fill you up with just 1.
The house potatoes had good flavor. They are definitely better than Millie’s Cafe potatoes which have no flavor at all.
The Chorizo burrito was a bit bland. Nothing to rave about.
I might come back to try their pie though, which was sold out.

Fox’s? I thought it was pretty good, actually. I ordered pancakes, which is the basic food I like to order at a place I don’t know – to kind of gauge how their things will be. I like to do that at any restaurant that is an unknown to me, as there’s always some food I do know that they make and I can taste it that way and see what they’re like. One of my associates who came with me ordered corned beef but it came with a horseradish sauce not on the side, but mixed in, which, since he wasn’t ready for it, tasted “chemically” to him and he didn’t like it. I think overall they’re an okay place, maybe a little caught up in the hoopla of being hipster and not being as down-to-earth as they could be, but that’s just an opinion right? I like their food and thought it was a place that you could go back to, although it’s not meant for average income people. I think it’s really meant for hipsters and people who have some money to burn and I believe they cater to that- no harm on them right it just the way they do it.
