Yesterday, we decided to visit the Sikkim Hut restaurant in Thornwood, NY. After a 40-minute drive from Queens, we finally arrived. As soon as we entered, the cozy and authentic atmosphere made us feel like home. Since I’m vegetarian, I ordered a few veggie dishes, and I have to say, they were absolutely fantastic—10 out of 10! My friend ordered the non-veg sekuwa, and that was also perfect—another 10 out of 10. The food was incredibly delicious and flavorful, truly a delightful experience. The service was wonderful, with attentive and friendly staff. Dawa, in particular, made sure all the customers felt cared for with her warm and outgoing personality. She was attentive to every need, making us feel special. It was definitely worth every penny and the time it took to drive from Queens. We’re already looking forward to coming back to try more items from the menu!

Great atmosphere! We had a wonderful experience yesterday. Although it was quite busy, the service was handled with absolute professionalism. The vegetarian chow mein was delicious. Since I’m a vegetarian, I only tried the vegetarian dishes, and they were excellent. My friend ordered some non-vegetarian items and left the restaurant completely satisfied as well. I would definitely recommend everyone to give this place a try!

Love this new Himalayan spot, right off the Saw Mill Parkway. Such great value and so good. This spot started as a food truck, currently at the Pleasantville Farmer’s Market, and now they’ve opened their first restaurant. Delicious chicken, veggie, beef and chives momos. Comforting, healthy thukpa soup, like a heartier chicken soup with more veggies and thicker noodles. The Thali set is unbelievable value for $15, giving you the chance to sample chicken curry, black lentils, cauliflower and potato, rice, and even dessert. Coming back to try the owner’s butter chicken, which I hear is the best, and their mango lassi.

My husband and I had lunch at Sikkim Hut today, the second day of its opening. We’ve long been fans of the Chef’s momos available at the Pleasantville Farmers Market and had been looking forward to their restaurant for months. We were not disappointed!
I had the Nepali thali, a platter of basmati rice and small dishes of chicken curry, soupy lentils,, curried chickpeas and cauliflower and more. It was all impeccably made, rich with spices and flavor! My husband stuck to momos and had the special momo platter with beef, chicken, and vegetable (with ginger and scallions!) dumplings prepared several different ways. He loved them, especially the pan fried momos!
Chef Dendup and co-owner (and wife) Dawa are lovely and have created a restaurant perfect for the town–we feel so lucky to have such a place to go to for authentic, skillfully made Himalayan dishes and wish their new restaurant all the best! We will be back many times over and recommend everyone try them out!

Was very excited to go because I love their Momo‘s from the farmers market. However, it was not the greatest experience. Maybe it was an off night but the food was extremely spicy although we ordered mild which was tough for the kids. The food took an hour and a half to come out and pieces of chicken was found in my daughter‘s vegetarian dish. With that all being said, the food was tasty. Will probably stick to takeout rather than dining in again. Hope others have a better experience.

Absolutely loved the food! Chef Dendup’s Chowmein and Fried Rice were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The Momo (Himalayan dumplings) tasted incredibly authentic, with rich, well-balanced seasoning in every bite. You can truly tell the care and expertise that goes into each dish. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more items on the menu!

This is a new restaurant and I am so glad we tried it out last evening (we will be coming back). The service was very warm and friendly. The food is made to order and everything is fresh and delicious. We wanted to try some dishes we weren’t familiar with so we ordered chicken lollipops and momo dumplings. Both very good especially the dumplings which were so flavorful. For main courses we ordered two sekuwa, Himalayan grill, dishes. the paneer and the lamb. Both delicious and the lamb was especially excellent. This is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood
