First time – party of 2, we were seeing a show at the Count Basie Theatre on a Friday night, and the ticket company sent a few pre-show restaurant recommendations. We looked at the reviews and menus and decided on The Bistro at Red Bank. Close parking to both the restaurant and the theatre, and right on one of the nicest downtown streets. The food was excellent! However, the Short Rib was dry, the accompanying mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts were yum!
In all, we had;
The bread service: There are 2 different choices, at an additional price – Garlic bread or Ciabatta baguette
We selected the Ciabatta baguette – some of the best bread we’ve had, and it came with marinated olives / lemon scented olive oil for dipping. Although the bread was good, I’m not sure I’d be willing to pay the extra price again.
Appetizers:
Woodfired Garlic Shrimp – delicious, a hint of lemon in the sauce, not overpowering
Crispy Rock Shrimp – delicious, loved the tempura batter and Calabrian chili aioli
Mains:
Chicken Milanese – the chicken was moist and the panko crust delicious. Sometimes the chicken is pounded too thin and gets tough; this was not the case. The Arugula Salad on top was delicious and paired beautifully with the balsamic drizzle on the chicken, making every bite even better.
Short Rib – as stated before, the short rib was dry and not tender, more of a mealy texture. The flavor was decent, but not enjoyable. The scallion mashed potatoes, honey-glazed crispy Brussels sprouts, and horseradish crema were delicious. We brought the dryness of the short rib to the attention of the waiter, but strangely, we were given an “I’m sorry about that”, and that was all, not even a suggestion to replace it or any discount on the bill.
The staff:
Everyone was pleasant; the waiter was a bit aloof. The bus person was more attentive, even boxing the remainder of our meal to take home instead of the usual drop-off of a box for you to shovel your plate into yourself.
The ambience:
Sparse. missing an identity. If this is the case, then the food should be Great, and for the most part it was. The music was barely there, and what could be heard sounded like a radio station that wasn’t quite tuned in.
Rating:
We are giving a 4 Star rating because the majority of the food was delicious. It could have been 5 Stars if the Short Rib had been proper, the waiter had been better, and there had been more ambience.

I recently visited Bistro for a birthday celebration and had a wonderful time. I ordered the penne vodka with grilled shrimp and it was delicious. Our waiter AJ, was absolutely amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent service. Also the bathroom was very clean. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Made reservations for lunch on a Sunday. Wasn’t necessary on this frigid day, but I would speculate that reservations are recommended during good weather seasons. There was only 1 large party when we arrived, the rest of the tables were empty. We waited over 5 minutes for acknowledgement. We choose to sit near the window. The table was wobbly and moved quite a bit spilling drinks on the table. The waitress must not have been having her best day, and despite the mediocre service, we tipped 20%
The food was very good. I would recommend it and will be returning for the delicious food.

I stopped by here for lunch today. I had the best baked clams ever! I just saw the special the Chef made for tonight, and I am envious that I will not be here to taste it. I planted myself in an outdoor cafe style seat/table and was provided with impeccable service. I will return with a huge appetite for sure!

Delicious food!!! 10/10 I went with my husband and son and the food was so good! We were very impressed. My son got pasta with marinara sauce so much flavor, then we got the potato and shrimp dumplings I didn’t think it was going to be as good as it was and the sushi rolls was so fresh and delicious too. I can’t stop raving about this place I can’t wait to go back! Oh and you need to try the bread pudding !!!

We were seated at a nice table by the front windows. Our waitress was awesome, can’t say enough about her (sorry I forgot her name). We had the Mediterranean spreads for our appetizer, with the Chicken Scarpariello and a Shrimp special for our mains. It was delicious.

I want to say thank you so much to the Manager Travis & our waitress. This place the food and the service was wonderful. We had our 25th Wedding Anniversary for 15 people. They were very accommodating. Everyone loved the food. I will definitely recommend this place. I will be back for dinner.

This place was absolutely amazing. First the host (possibly the manager not sure), sat us and was very welcoming. Shortly after our waitress came out. She suggested a wine according to our tastes which was perfect (we ended up with two bottles). Then we ordered our food and it was simply delicious! The Octopus appetizer as so tender, clearly cooked just right. Everyone was so happy with their entrees and our waitress was so attentive. She even came back to thank us afterwards for generously tipping her. She deserved it honestly. I just wish I got her name. We will definitely be back.

Bistro Red Bank has been a staple on Broad Street. The menu has something to offer customers with a variety of tastes. We dined on a bunch of the appetizers, which were delicious. The Spanish Styled Shrimps were tasty. The shrimps were big and the sauce was garlicky and light. I dipped the focaccia bread in the sauce and was in heaven. The crackling calamari salad in miso dressing is a favorite of mine too. The Brussel sprouts were yummy too. The menu offers pasta dishes, sushi rolls , poke bowls, brick oven pizza and short ribs too. Bistro is always a winner in my book. We had a great server too, AJ was friendly and attentive. All around great experience.
