I have a cherished memory of attending the restaurant school. It all began when I started my first job in the food industry at a fish market, then later at delis. I had a deep passion for food and cooking, and I wanted to take my skills to the next level. In 1988, I decided to enroll in the restaurant school. The original location, situated at 2129 Walnut Street, was where I started my culinary journey. Today, as I visit the relocated location, I am truly impressed with the transformation.

The school, back in my days, offered a solid structure, taught proficiency skills, and instilled in students a strong sense of self-worth – qualities that are often lacking in many institutions today. I came here with a friend who shares my appreciation for college institutions. She holds a master’s degree and three bachelor’s degrees, so she was equally thrilled to be here. Our purpose for visiting today was to indulge in the delights of the pastry shop, enjoy a cup of coffee, and catch up on some remote work.

I must say, the coffee here is exceptional. I opted for a regular decaf with oat milk and a sugar substitute, and it was delicious. Although we didn’t have any pastries this time, the display of fresh breads, French pastries, holiday treats, and even gingerbread houses was tempting. With numerous coffee shops scattered around the city, this quaint little spot provides a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, complete with free parking.

We are looking forward to exploring everything else the restaurant school has to offer in the future. It’s truly inspiring to witness the students refining their craft under the guidance of such a fantastic team of instructors.

A great place to go for delicious pastries and gourmet food. For the next few weeks, you can make a reservation for a Christmas buffet dinner. You can also have breakfast and lunch in their decorated courtyard. Or enjoy a hot cup of coffee or an espresso. I suggest having a good piece of pastry in addition.

This place should be CLOSED DOWN permanently! It makes no sense for these pastries to be so fresh, so moist and so flavorful. People can actually get addicted to this place and get caught up in a sweet tooth epidemic! I highly recommend trying this place out but you have been warned!

My go to for DELICIOUS and professional pastries, cookies, cakes, I even did a custom order for mini entremets for a work party and it was a huge hit. Would also give props to their in house breakfast, lunch and dinner– all are worth carving out time for to try. Of note, they do close for the summer school break (end of June until early Sept I believe, call and check before heading over) and you need to call custom cake orders at least 3 days in advance (I suggest a full work week). If you’re not picky you can just show up and buy whatever cakes are in the case that morning, all VERY reasonably priced. Best place in town for cakes IMHO
And they are very affordable but not lacking whatsoever in quality or craftsmanship (got a sheet cake for $50!!!)

Sanitation is an issue. I visited this location one morning and one of the employees blew her nose and proceeded to help customers (touching pastries). I informed another employee and she completely ignored my concern. This is disgusting! I will not dine her ever again.
