Rosati’s Pizza | Real Ingredients for Real Chicago Style Pizza
Reviews
Chicago Style pizza in quite a bit. I ordered a 10” Chicago Style Pizza. First, in no way shape or form this should be sold as Chicago Style pizza. The crust is dry. It tasted more like a store bought crust. No thickness, no butter, the pizza had no cohesiveness. It was not the worst, however, I was really wanting a Chicago Style pizza. The salad was not fresh. It was room temperature. The iceberg lettuce was the center and going bad. The freshest thing was the red onions. Such a disappointment. I’ve had better from a frozen Geno’s Chicago Style Pizza.
I also ordered a 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni pizza . . . Couldnt tell what side had the pepperoni because, after i checked, there were only 4 pieces of pepperoni on the pepperoni side of a large pizza.
I called Rosati’s and the lack of accountability is the reason I won’t go back.
Also no inside seating and the waiting area looked dirty and unkempt.
Most of the bad reviews I see are because people are misinformed and don’t know what they’re ordering or unfortunately, their order wasn’t cooked properly or to their liking.
If you want Chicago “Deep Dish” style pizza you have to request it because they have 3 different crusts. Thin, Double Dough, and Deep dish. Thin is super flaky. Double dough is just a little thicker with a hand rolled edge. Chicago Deep dish is super heavy like a pie filled with extra cheese and toppings. It’s hard to eat more than 2 slices of Chicago deep dish in one sitting.
Most people would probably prefer the double dough in my opinion which is closest to hand tossed/tavern style pizza. If you decide to get thin crust make sure to tell them light cook, not to cook it well done as they tend to cook most pizzas towards well done.
They make their sauce, dough, and Italian sausage. Their Italian sausage is INCREDIBLE, it’s real Italian sausage made in house in Chicago and is nothing like the pizza chains and even higher end pizzerias that buy generic sausage. Their Italian sausage is unique and common in Chicago as I rarely ever see that type of sausage anywhere in the country unless they are copying “Chicago style sausage”.
Even their cheese is a unique mozzarella blend made in Wisconsin. It’s buttery and stretchy with just the right amount of salt. Then they sprinkle a little oregano on top for a unique herbal flavor.
Also, if you get the Italian beef they will dunk the whole sandwich in aujus gravy unless you tell them auju on the side. It makes the whole sandwich dripping with juice like a fountain which is made to eat fresh unless you get the gravy on the side. Make sure you get the sweet peppers and if you like some heat also add the “hot giardiniera peppers” which is also unique to Chicago. In Chicago we put hot giardiniera peppers on everything.
I love this place, the ingredients are TOP QUALITY AND DELICIOUS. Don’t hesitate to try it and don’t listen to the negative reviews!
And almost burned. I spent $92 and it tasted like something a kid trying to make own food wood have made, definitely not worth the money! Would not recommend to anyone.- Dominies is better and I don’t care for their pizza but would recommend it over this place !
