So, enter the bar/restaurant, there is a sign that says seat yourself and grab a menu from the bar. It’s unclear, however, if you go to the bar and order or if someone comes to the table. (Hint: you got up to the bar) My hubby and I are from Southern WI, so we had no idea. Lol We asked one of the locals close to us. The staff was really nice though. You go up to get your own food when the beeper goes off.
It’s a clean, and relaxed sports bar, withs everal dart boards in the back. It’s really cute actually!! I’m super glad we stopped too, because the food alone is worth the trip we made to Iowa!!!! YUM! We will definitely revisit when driving through again! My hubby got the regular Carmichael and I got the Western. They were to DIE FOR!!!!! They were fairly big. As I told my husband: I don’t necessarily wish it was bigger, but I wish my sandwich lasted longer

The Dog House is exactly the kind of local bar you hope to stumble into laid-back, full of character, and serving up food that goes way beyond what you’d expect from a neighborhood joint. I stopped in on a whim and was seriously impressed.
First off, the Carmichael burger lives up to the hype. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and stacked with cheese in the middle it’s one of the best bar burgers I’ve had in Iowa. I also tried their wings, and the flavor options are wild in the best way. The Raspberry Jalapeño was a surprising favorite sweet with just enough kick.
The vibe inside is relaxed and friendly. Plenty of TVs to catch a game, and the crowd was a nice mix of regulars and new faces. It’s easy to feel like a regular here, even if it’s your first time. The bartenders were quick and easy to chat with, which makes all the difference.
Whether you’re stopping in for drinks, a bite, or just looking for a solid place to unwind after work, The Dog House hits the mark. Definitely one of Dubuque’s hidden gems.

Dusty and his staff are always very friendly, welcoming and makes your experience one to remember! Food is awesome, many “activities” to do while you’re enjoying a nice cold beer, and plenty of room for everyone! (And the coffee shop next door is pretty awesome, too!)

First time here. Had their hamburger and onion rings and draft beer, all very good. The bartender was very friendly. Available to watch several tvs, dart boards, and pool tables. Recommend you stop here for a bite and drink.

Best wings I’ve ever eaten. Good drink prices and awesome atmosphere. I was 8 hours from home on a work trip. If it was closer I’d be a regular

Such a fun place. Small Town bar feel where the bartenders treat you like regulars even if it’s your first time in. Best bone in wings I’ve ever had, their house made sauces are fantastic. All of the food is delicious!!

Food was very good. Has that typical college bar feel. It was quite busy but the bar staff had everything under control.
