I had a fantastic experience about 40 minutes ago at Goodcents in Leavenworth, Kansas. I had just finished physical therapy and spotted the deli from across the street — and as a New Yorker, I’ll never turn down a good sub sandwich. I’m glad I walked in.
Preston greeted me immediately with genuine warmth. He asked what I wanted to order and how my day was going. I told him this was my first time visiting Goodcents. As he prepared my lunch, we chatted about Thanksgiving plans, and the whole interaction felt natural and welcoming — the kind of customer service that truly stands out.
He prepared an incredible Italian sub for me using the freshest ingredients: oil and vinegar, basil, salt, pepper, lettuce, tomato, onions, and banana peppers for that perfect extra heat. Everything was put together with care and attention, and you can tell he takes real pride in his work.
I ordered an Uber and took the sandwich back to my apartment to escape the rain. Once I sat down in my living room to eat, I dug in, and it was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors balanced, and the sandwich was filling. I ordered the 8-inch — their medium-sized option — and it was more than enough. Goodcents even offers a larger size for bigger appetites, so the value for the money is outstanding.
The whole experience easily earns this place a well-deserved five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The quality of the sandwiches cannot be defined by the speed to complete the orders moving in every direction! This is a new store from what we could tell! The location is a couple turns off the main road, so be ready! The facility was beautiful inside and out with cleanliness being a top priority! We were thankful to see the 3 “stressed” but working employees, as they maneuvered around and thru each other trying to complete the orders as they arrived so quickly! The employees were all friendly and impressive at their jobs! Our sandwiches were ok, as we opened them 15 min later, the bread was water logged with black olive, pickle, banana pepper and jalapeño juices rendering the bread inedible! Not sure if we arrived at a busy time or always like that, so we’ll give them another shot, since it’s our favorite sub sandwich restaurant!
Frankly, I watched the “manager” place his gloved hands inside another customers sandwich then wrap it then place it inside a bag. “Manager” then prepared to finish my order. I stopped him then told him to change his gloves which he did.
I told him about the dead flies and foul fluid by prep area. His answer was that flies always get in during food delivery then congregate by the sill and die.
This happened @1140 today. I have to wonder how many flies were deceased on other parts of the store. Granted gloves aren’t as cheap as they were but for sanitation reasons, gloves should be changed between customers.
Personally, I have to question returning to a store that appears to think sanitation in a food establishment is secondary. It also makes me question wether Goodscents provides proper training and follow-up.
