We had driven by Smokey Hollow Restaurant several times and had been wanting to stop in and try it. This past weekend, we finally got our chance—and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with an overwhelming welcome, making us feel right at home, even though we were from another town. They took their time with us, patiently explaining the menu and making us feel like valued guests.
I decided on the country fried steak with a side of fried green tomatoes, and it was the perfect choice. The steak was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with a crispy coating that had just the right amount of crunch. The fried green tomatoes were a delightful addition—crispy on the outside, tangy and fresh on the inside, and seasoned to perfection.
We also happened to visit on a Friday night and were treated to an unexpected bonus: karaoke night! The atmosphere was lively and fun, with everyone in the room joining in and having a great time. It felt like a big, friendly gathering, where even newcomers like us were encouraged to participate and enjoy the festivities.

My wife and I love to go to out of the way places and experience different foods and preparations. We have given 5 Star ratings on places that some would question. We drove into the parking lot here not knowing what to expect. Well we were disappointed. We both ordered the pork sandwich. One regular and one super sized. The pork was chewy. The fries were not bad. You could tell both of bout lates were at the end of the bag. Bits and pieces. It wasn’t that busy. We kept being told it was. We were locked it so know one would come In?

It’s an old restaurant off the interstate that looks closed when you first arrive. No one was there and except my husband and I. The service was great and the food was wonderful. My husband had the fried pork chops w/ mashed potatoes & gravy, corn on the cob, and green beans. The pork chops were huge and he said the corn on the cob and green beans were seasoned well. I had the chicken livers and added grilled shrimp w/ hush puppies ( I know weird combo but that’s what I wanted and they just did it). Chicken livers were great they were not over cooked and burnt to a hard lump. They were like my moms. The grilled shrimp were blackened and the hush puppies were good. We also had their fried green tomatoes. Really good food highly recommend.

All the folks are friendly and inviting from the moment you enter until you pull out the drive… If anything could make our visit more enjoyable it would be a little more spice seasoning added to meals and maybe once a week do a new meat instead of the same ole same ole every week like maybe baked chicken or spaghetti

It was our first time visiting and chose catfish fillets that were delicious, the Cole slaw was very tasty. However, the baked potatoes were cold and we never got our hush puppies. The waitress was the only one there so she done her best!

My first thoughts, after sitting down…. “This place isn’t real clean.” My table was dirty. The tables around me were still dirty. It just sort of seamed like a sad place inside. There was a little dog barking the whole time, in like an adjoining gift store. The food was ok and probably fairly priced. I just kept thinking how dirty the stuff must be back in the back that prepared my food, if the public area is that unkept.
This restaraunt could possibly be a main town staple… I think it could just use some TLC and some motivated folks to clean it up and re-present it as a more inviting, healthier, family eating environment. The location is convenient.

Place could use a makeover sure but it’s clean and the food was tasty. Reminded me of grandma kitchen back in the day. Can’t go wrong. I salt and peppered my food cause I like a bit more salt. Else wise flavors were good and the staff was friendly.
