I ordered the fish & chips and not only was it soooo good… the portion could easily feed two people! The batter was crisp, the fish flaky, and those hushpuppies were perfect.
The bacon was also cooked exactly how bacon should be — perfectly crispy with great flavor. And I love that they carry Topo Chico for sparkling water — major bonus! ✨
Such a cute area, too — we will 100% be back!
Drinks were strong and well balanced, not watered down if you know what I mean!
The kids had a fun little surprise which i wont spoil but the experience exceeded our expectations to the point where we may leave apex to enjoy another meal here!
Our server was warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly attentive. We shared a great bottle of Chardonnay, started with fried oysters that were admirably crisp and paired with a spot-on tiny bit of heat remoulade, and then faced the hardest decision of the night: choosing an entrée. I landed on the shrimp and grits (flawless), while my mother-in-law went with the fish taco….fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. Dessert sealed the deal: warm bread pudding and an Irish coffee with Bulleit that was pure comfort in a glass.
I truly can’t say enough good things. I’m a “retired”chef, and this kitchen continues to blow me away. The consistency, the execution, the heart behind the food makes it everything you hope for and rarely find.
Brunch and dinner are both must-tries. Don’t miss either. In an area that’s quickly being overrun by franchises and fast food, places like West End Kitchen are worth celebrating and fiercely supporting.
Bravo. This is how you do it!
It takes a lot for me to give anything below three stars.
If you make a reservation at West End Kitchen and expect them to honor it, you could be in for a huge and disappointing surprise.
And don’t expect good customer service.
Nine weeks in advance, I made a Valentine’s Day dinner reservation for three people.
It was supposed to be a special dinner that was beyond just being February 14th as my wife and I had traveled from Ecuador. We wanted to treat our sister to an intimate dinner with drinks. Of course, dessert, too.
When we arrived at 6 p.m., it took about five minutes for someone to guide us to what appeared to be an unattractive community table in the middle of the kitchen traffic.
I explained to the gentleman that we had a reservation and did not want to be seated at an uncomfortable table next to a noisy kitchen with people constantly going by us.
The employee lamely stated that is where the computer put us. He added that because we were a party of three, we could not be seated in the restaurant, where everyone else was enjoying their Valentine’s Day dinner.
He was informed that this was totally unacceptable for fine dining, especially when we made a reservation two months prior.
A very weak apology was made, and the restaurant employee told us we could wait 30 to 45 minutes.
There was no offer of a discount or a free meal; it was a “take-it-or-leave-it” proposition.
No brainer: We left.
There was no way we were going to stand for 45 minutes because West End Kitchen did not honor the reservation that it confirmed via Yelp.
That dinner was supposed to be a celebration.
It ended up being takeout pizza as the restaurants were booked for Valentine’s Day.
Our terrible experience was emailed to the restaurant, but it was “radio silence” from West End Kitchen. No one bothered to respond. Nor did they probably care.
