Had the best sushi in downtown Athens! Started with edamame that was hot, grilled a salted to perfection. Loved the sunset roll with yellow fontina. 8 large piece and very good. Had the tuna handbook and it wasn’t our favorite. Loved the patio vibe and also the sushi bar inside. Delicious!

Great place for seafood and sushi. It was tasty but the sealand sushi was lacking in presentation, and the beef was a bit dry. I realized after there was no spicy sauce. Next time I want to try the nachos.

Best in Athens GA.
Consistently good food and service.
Chef Vu takes care of fresh fish side and open kitchen pumps out hot dishes as orders come in.
Wait staffs are very knowledgeable and prompt.
Never had disappointed time.

first time at chucks. great atmosphere for athens. food is way overpriced in general. grouper piccata was dry, disappointed for a $42 dish. filet was ok. asparagus served with both dishes was terrible. apps were calamari; breading could be better and uptown chicken; fine and good portion. wouldn’t order any of these again but enjoyed the atmosphere may try again for the sushi.

Went to Chuck’s on a Monday at 4 pm. We were the first seated and truly enjoyed the experience and food. We had the spring rolls, surf and turf, and Spicy tuna roll. It was delicious. This restaurant is not for the student community. Be prepared to pay a higher price and longer wait during busy eating hours. Management may consider allowances for reservations during peak hours of operation. Policy for customers not lingering at their table after dinner would need to be advised for maximum turnover. Excessive wait times set you up for hangry customers.

We sat at the bar and had a great night. We started out with the calamari and Brussel sprouts and then had the shrimp tempura sushi roll and the Philly sushi roll. The calamari was my favorite. Delicious! We will be back again soon!

Great service too!

In town for parents weekend and finally made it to Chuck’s. It didn’t disappoint. Uptown chicken and Brussel sprouts wereour favorite appetizer. I had bronzed red snapper with a mango salsa and rice pilaf. It was well prepared and delicious. Wife and son shared several rolls. Rainbow and The Dawg were their favorites. Highly recommend

My boyfriend and I had been looking forward to coming here for a while now, and it’s always packed, so we were expecting to be impressed when we came for our anniversary. We got a (very very good) sushi roll to start, then ordered our grouper entrees which took about 40 minutes to come out and, when we finally got them, were both overcooked to the point that we had to send them back. The front of house staff was lovely, but the restaurant was loud, and the fish was incredibly disappointing for a place called Chuck’s FISH. If you go here, get the sushi and make sure you’re not in a rush.

Tasty, but Very Pricey

Setup — in our Alma Mater town, beautiful Athens for a TJs trip so went here as we’ve had our eyes on it for minute. Traditional fish & sushi, what’s not to love?

Food — I’ll preface and own my mistakes on my order (more to come), but will focus on the food. Appetizers we got were fantastic. Got the cup of Seafood Gumbo and it measured up pretty well to best ever in GA (Oyster Bay). Also got the Kimchi Brussel Sprouts. These were amazing. Had a yummy sauce, flash fried to perfection and the bacon was excellent. This dish was a homerun and the gumbo was dang good compared to a super high bar. Got excited for entrees……and took a turn.

Mistake #1 — ordered fish of the day, grouper without asking Market Price. Elected to have it bronzed. It was fine. Came with rice, a chutney that was decent, and large broccolini. Mistake #2 — I was hoping for a closer version to fried fish and that was dumb fault. B got The Backdown. Tuna, cream cheese and other elements in the sushi roll. The crab salad tasted prepackaged. Again, it tasted fine. Standard roll that was not terrible but certainly not anything to write home about.

Value — this is the killer. I’ll own my mistakes for ordering poorly, but I was fairly shocked…. $38 for a small piece of bronzed grouper!! I’m still in shock. My own DA fault for not asking and ordering poorly, but $38……. seriously? We knew the price of the roll, but it wasn’t much better than store bought for $18. I’m owning my mistakes in ordering, but goodness gracious. Taste and quality simply were entirely askew in terms of cost.

Drinks — highlight of the meal in terms of value…a Pacifico draft for $5.50.

Service — excellent service, helpful and friendly.

Summary — appetizers are great, but beware of the main dishes and don’t EVER not ask the market price.
