Blacksmith is easily one of the best spots in downtown Redwood City if you’re looking for a great cocktail and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff truly make the place stand out—they’re attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. From the moment you walk in, you feel taken care of, with bartenders who are happy to recommend drinks and take the time to craft them perfectly. The service never feels rushed, even when the bar gets busy, and the team does a fantastic job making everyone feel like a regular. It’s the kind of place where the excellent staff and thoughtful service keep you coming back.

I don’t have any photos to share, but I’ve been to this bar a few times and really enjoy the atmosphere. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The DJ comes on at 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, and there’s no cover charge. The vibe is casual, the music is mainly hip-hop, and they offer a good variety of cocktails. Overall, it’s a solid spot to hang out.

On Saturday it was extremely crowded while bar hopping. I didn’t see the security guard as I was walking in, and instead of using his voice to guide me, he forcefully shoved me. That kind of physical contact was unnecessary and unacceptable.
Security is supposed to keep people safe, not intimidate them. Please retrain your staff on proper crowd control and de-escalation. No guest should be pushed when simple communication would have handled the situation.

Their drinks look awesome. The bartender (she is also a manager) made good drinks for us. We liked them, however the alcohol percentage was a little bit high for us.

Beautiful atmosphere but it took a long time to get drinks ordered. When we finally got the bartender’s attention one round, we just ordered beer instead of cocktails so it would be quicker. Still, a great bar and I’d go back.

Stopped by for a nightcap post dinner. The only real bar in the entire main drag, but little else. Gets livelier as the rest of the street shuts down by 9am. The draft beers we tried tasted fresh and flavorful. Nice seating inside and on the curb.

A good, causal happy hour bar in Redwood City. I would highly recommend the Old Fashioned. They have great drinks on the menu that I would recommend. If you get there for happy hour, you get $3 off.
