Only things for us personally were it was too dark of dark lighting and it did get very loud but I guess that just showed you that people were really having a good time! Next time l come return hopefully my income is good enough where I can afford to try on of their Steak dinners aha, because those looked delicious. But overall, great food, drinks, and staff. Had a positive experience!
The food was passable but not memorable—presentation outshone flavour. For the price point, I expected thoughtful garnishes, richer textures, or unique culinary elements. What we received felt more like a student-run kitchen rehearsal with upscale plating.
Service was notably lacking. The host was indifferent, and our server seemed unfocused and detached throughout. It’s rare to leave a meal feeling like the staff would have rather been anywhere else.
One odd moment involved a server, not ours, meticulously pouring wine into a shot glass before transferring it into a wine glass—a process that seemed more performative than practical, and did little to enhance the dining experience.
The overall atmosphere gives the impression of a venue more concerned with image and hype than return clientele. It didn’t feel like a place with regulars—more like a one-time stop for tourists or students chasing status rather than substance.
We tipped the minimum, though even that felt generous. There’s potential here, but it’s buried under pretense and inattention.
The atmosphere is relaxed, modern, and pleasant, perfect for both a romantic dinner and a night out with friends. The staff is extremely friendly, attentive, and professional; they genuinely make sure every guest leaves satisfied.
The prices are completely justified by the quality and the overall experience. If you’re in Saint John and love seafood, Saltwater is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Lobster roll 4 stars
Lobster Risotto 4.5 stars
Shrimp Risotto 4 stars
Duck 2.5 stars
Service 2.5 stars
Burger was great, lobster and shrimp risotto were pretty good, duck was tough. Service wasn’t really good, no OPUR for every table and forgetful servers.
I’m quite disappointed in the lobster dinner though ($58.00) it was served to me cold (unless this is normal? I’m a tourist, so forgive me if I’m wrong) with no utensils to help further crack the shells as it was pre-cut in half.
I could tell service was strained as they needed more staff to help ensure the proper flow and standard of the guests, but my server wasn’t able to check in on my meal until after it was finished (another employee served my dish) and no utensils were provided until after my food arrived & I had to remind them.
I can’t really see myself returning to this establishment, it was an okay way of saying hello to a new city.
