The food was fresh and flavorful. The flaming cheese was great. The chicken was very well seasoned. The salsa needed some cilantro and onions. The chips were crispy and fresh. The cheese dip was good. The service was very helpful.

Small spot with some charm and a nice outdoor seating area. I love the decor and the atmosphere. It feels like a well kept family restaurant. Server was attentive and I ordered Queso Flamadeo and a taco lunch special. Food came out and looked good but “hot plate” was no understatement and I usually get wary. Tacos were pretty plain, the appetizer was good. Over all the tortillas with the exception of the chips could have been more fresh and same for the chopped veg and rice. Still ate my whole meal though and enjoyed the visit. At 4 stars I’d say worth a visit.

We were in Montevallo on Christmas Eve and this was the only restaurant (other than fast food) open. We had lunch. The server was fast and courteous. Salsa was better than most in Alabama. Didn’t taste like ketchup with added flavors. I got the shrimp chimichanga, my daughter ordered the fish tacos and my bf ordered the taco, enchilada, chili relleno combo plate. Mine was tasty. Though a couple of the shrimps were very cold. The taco came in a taco bell style shell that disintegrated on the bottom side due to the moisture if the rest of the dish. Not authentic. Double corn tortillas is authentic. Though, he was pleasantly surprised that the pepper was stuffed with meat. The fish tacos had a nice size piece of fish in each. Overall, it was a decent experience. I would go there again.

Very friendly and courteous wait staff. Food was good, typical Mexican menu. Drinks were awesome, especially the margaritas. Outside dining on the sidewalk is available.

Nice little place on Main Street in Montevallo, Alabama. The food was very good and chips were ok and the salsa was very good. The salsa is a little spicy for those that don’t like it spicy be prepared. I had the number 29 the steak had good flavor a little overcooked. The shrimps were perfect loved the seasoning. The refried beans were so amazing. Overall the atmosphere is nice and their drink selection is very nice.

Excellent pastry.
El Agave was open a bit late in the evening and I am glad. Huge selection of delights. You choose your own from big, glass front display cabinets. Everyone loved their selections. They pastry is light and has a bit of chewiness. Workers were helpful and extra polite. Do not hesitate to visit.

It’s a small little nice restaurant. The table connected to the booths could be a little higher. The food was ok. I got the steak nachos. It was more like pepper & onion nachos. I didn’t even have enough meat to put a piece on each nacho. I let them know so hopefully they’ll make sure that doesn’t happen to others in the future. Picture shows my pepper & onion aftermath… Lol

El Agave is one of our restaurants in Montevallo where locals and college students go to have some great Mexican food. They have drink specials at lunch and Tuesday evening margarita specials. The food is good, and I like their salsa, but I wish they had larger salsa bowls. They are quite small. Other
than that, it’s great.

We waited 30 minutes to order our food after we sat down. Waited another 30 minutes for the food and only 2 out of 3 orders came out. Absolutely ridiculous only one other table had customers. Will not be coming back
