Food is VERY overhyped. I have had it multiple times to give it a chance because people of Middlebury LOVE them. Do NOT be fooled! It was inconsistent each and every time. Either not good, cold, skimping on the portions or the food was only tolerable & ok .
First impression, I bought shrimp lo-mein and crap rongoons, the shrimp lo-mein was okay. Nothing special. But the crab rongoons were Hot on the outside and completely frozen in the middle. The taste of their shrimp lo-mein is super inconsistent. Ive had it okay and then another time had to double check if it was even what I ordered. Same with their general tso.
Im very neutral on the service and atmosphere. Just nothing special at all.

I placed an order over the phone for two entree dinner items (comes with an egg roll & white rice– we upgraded the white rice to fried rice for $4 more), and one large sweet & sour chicken. I was told my total is $38- my husband stops on his way to pick up and pay, and they charged him $67. He did not know what I ordered, so he just went with it. He came home and asked why I got $67 worth of food for 2 kids and just us, and I was caught off guard. I looked at the receipt, and it had our items on it with no charge but then showed the card was charged $67 and some change. I called the restaurant and she acted like she had no idea what happened, and even though she admitted they over charged us, she refused to give me any type of refund or offer a credit for the overage and then mocked me and got rude. I called her out for poor customer service and then she apologized (in the same rude tone) and she asked if we could come back to get more food. I informed her we do not need more food, we need a refund or a credit and she stated they cannot do any refunds or credits. We live 5 minutes away and we would rather drive 30 minutes away to an honest restaurant over this establishment. I would be careful of this place and do not be fooled by some of the “amazing” reviews, because if you do some digging you will see that MANY people have had this same issue. They are thieves and plain out rude.

This was the first time I had been at this restaurant. I ordered take out while on my lunch. I had the House Fried Rice and 2 eggrolls. I normally do not leave bad reviews, however today the food was so bad, I just couldn’t not. The only thing that I was sure I was eating in the rice was the rice, carrots and shrimp. It barely had any flavor, but it did smell good. However, when bit into what I thought was pork, it was a fatty piece of something and after doing this a couple times, I spit it out. It was also supposed to have chicken in it, but what I saw was a white piece of something, and then some white strips of something that I wasn’t sure what it was, so I didn’t even attempt eating it. I choked down about 1/8 of the rice, ate the shrimp and threw everything else away. Shrimp is shrimp, you can’t screw that up. The egg rolls were so bland, not even sweet and sour would have livened them up. I’m sad to say, this was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had.

This place only has good reviews because its the only chinese in the small town of Middlebury. Us locals have nowhere else to get it so they love it but it is not that good at all. Unflavorful and inconsistent. Save your money folks and go elsewhere.

Hours of hot and sour mushroom soup and a shrimp fried rice. I was pretty good. I don’t really agree with the whole intercom system to order they have going on with the additional mask the lady was wearing and I couldn’t make out what she was saying no. But I guess if you’re making people feel safe it is what it is. Other than that food was good and I probably stop back again if I’m in the area.

So, to get this out of the way this place is not a buffet it is a Chinese takeout restaurant. If you plan on eating inside, just know that no smoking is allowed.
That being said those points don’t factor into my review; the food does.
Long story short, this is one of the best Chinese food places I’ve ever been to. Not only is your order made in a reasonable amount of time, but almost everything that I’ve ordered from here has been really good with the exception of the hot and spicy chicken. Hands down the number one thing I’d recommend and my favorite item on the menu here are the crab rangoons.
The only thing I would have to criticize about the place is that it is a little bit on the pricey side. That is however just my opinion.
Overall, since I’ve tried a lot of the menu now, I could say that most everything is really good and for that I give this place 5 out of 5 stars.

this restaurant is amazing they have hand made Dumplings or some people call them Goya. they are so wonderful. the Dumpling wrappers are a little thicker then some that I have had, but the taste was wonderful and the filling is big meaty with a lot of flavor. the dipping sauce has a lot of flavor and is not just soy sauce it has so much more in it. I really enjoyed it.
The hot and sour soup was some of the best I have had in a while. It has a very nice flavor and the heat level was nice no to hot / spicy but it was a little bit spicy.
everyone we had dinner with us said that there food was amazing. if I lived near here I would eat at this restaurant very often. it would most likely be my favorite restaurant to go to.

Great Chinese restaurant in Shipshewana ! My shrimp fried rice was amazing !! Its a cute little restaurant that seats upto 24 people but its super busy with takeouts. Great customer service as well !! THANK YOU for making my trip pleasant with delicious food.

Portions were healthy, looked great and tasted very good. Only disappointment was the interior. Maybe something we should have known, given “Take Away” in their name!
