#Excellent service

I had a wonderful dinner here during last visit and highly recommend this restaurant! The menu offers a fantastic mix of Indian and Nepali cuisine. I tried the Nepali-style dinner along with some extra fish and shrimp dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
The service was perfect—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. On top of that, the location is in a great area, which adds to the overall experience.
Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to again. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Indian and Nepali food!
I will definitely be going back whenever I am close to this location or near Connecticut. Highly recommended to everyone looking for authentic NEPALI AND INDIAN CUISINE.
Maybe it is the demographics of the area that the restaurant toned down the flavor for. If not, then it is just disappointing. Everything was just bland for Indian food. Even then the flavors for some things like Chicken Tikka Masala were just off. Can’t say for sure if it was just under spiced bringing out the flavors of other ingredients like yogurt or cream used that made it taste like something else. Also, aside from chicken, only had a small piece of bell pepper in it. Typically I’d get onion and peppers in the sauce. Samosas were very small and had a mash of stuff in the contents instead of chunks of potato and whole peas. Maybe they were smaller due to being on a variety appetizer plate because if they are normally that small on a regular appetizer order it would be even more disappointing.
Service was really bad. It was peak hours on a Saturday. Not sure if they were under staffed or just in need of better training and coordination. A couple that came in after us was seated, ordered food, ate it and left before our main dishes came out and there were only 4 of us. Had to flag down staff for menus they forgot to give us. Table next to us had to ask for silverware and plates for the desert they were served. Main dishes came out an hour and 15 minutes after being seated.
Drinks came out very late. Server had asked if it had been a while with our apps waiting for the main dishes. We said yes and they said they would check on it. Food came out mostly just warm indicating they were probably waiting for a while under a heat lamp for someone to pick them up. Was excited to show my step mother how great Indian food is. I’d say I failed.
Prices were more expensive than my usual places in Jersey City, NJ which has an even higher cost of living than Guilford. And things priced about the same you got a little less for your money.
One thing: if you want *ACTUAL SPICY* be sure to point that out. I guess their default is “American spicy” which is… very mild even for me. It doesn’t take away from how delicious the food is though.
The prices are pretty reasonable for the area and I have enjoyed every dish so far. Definitely give the Momo Tikka Masala a try!
Parking is available at the back, but the narrow driveway and entrance can be a bit confusing—you might find yourself accidentally heading toward the kitchen instead of the main entrance. Inside, the ambiance is pleasant, with décor that blends well with Indian culture. The menu, with its metal cover and embossed restaurant name, is unique, though it’s a bit heavy and clunky to handle.
We ordered Veg Momos, Chicken Lasuni, Paneer Chilli with Garlic Naan, Tamarind Margarita, and Mango Lassi. The food was good overall. The momos were particularly well-made, while the Paneer Chilli, though slightly dry, still tasted good. The Chicken Lasuni could have used a bit more garlic, and the chicken pieces might have been easier to eat if they were smaller, but they were well-cooked. The Garlic Naan was warm, fluffy, and nicely garnished. Portions were on the smaller side for the price but sufficient for two to share. The Mango Lassi was standard fare—good but nothing extraordinary. The Tamarind Margarita was also good, with a hint of tamarind, though the slender glass it was served in was an unusual choice and could have benefited from a bit more salt on the rim.
Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and kind. However, when we asked for cocktail recommendations, the staff couldn’t provide specific suggestions, leaving us to choose the Indian fusion margarita, which, while interesting, could have been recommended or suggested with confidence.
Overall, Kamana is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re in the area.
