It’s obvious from the taste and freshness this is all “home made” style food. Even the whipped cream served with the apple pie was home made from egg whites – tastes it immediately as it was like my grandmas. The restaurant is almost an hour drive for us one way but worth every minute. Beautiful ride, lakeside and passing farmers markets alone the way. Blue Canoe is awesome. Kudos to Mary M who does the work of 4 waitresses all at the same time.
; receipt attached. 2 people drinking just water + soda water, 1 burger + 1 haddock entree, 2 desserts with gratuity was $87.93…I dine here at least once per year when visiting upstate New York but at these prices, I’m not sure I’ll continue the tradition. I guess Bidenomics is hitting everyone in a bad way
Our server, however, was indifferent in many ways. When we asked for water along with our alcoholic drinks, for example, she sort of, rolled her eyes and acted as if she was going out of her way. She never came back after serving the food to see how it was, and at the end of the meal, didn’t seem terribly interested in offering dessert. My wife overheard her telling another couple that they could stay at the table they were occupying as long as they wanted after their meal, because she didn’t want to take on anymore diners. If she’s wondering why she got a low tip, all of the above. Maybe she was having a bad day, I don’t know but the restaurant business you always have to put on your best face and remember it’s about the customer. And it’s not as if we asked for anything outrageous or outlandish.
All of that said, this is definitely a hidden gem that is out of the way, but worth finding. It’s scenic, the food was wonderful, and the owner is obviously not a New York Yankees fan and that works for me!
