The staff working tonight (1800 on 1/17/2026) especially the 2 girls working up front were so rude! They just lost my family, my parents and my sisters family as customers. We will be supporting other and more respectful local businesses than this restaurant.

If you want good quality authentic Mexican food, this is NOT the place to go. I was very disappointed in our meal here the other day. The wait staff was nice, although we only saw our waitress like twice. Other waitresses kept coming by to check on us and refill our drinks. You have to order and pay for chips and salsa, so we ordered some. For our meal we got a combination plate and tostadas compuestas. The bean tostada and the red tostada were pretty good, but I didn’t really care for the green one. The combination plate was very disappointing. The red sauce on the enchilada was good, but the green sauce and the relleno was horrible!! The chile relleno was way too eggy and soggy, and the green sauce just tastes like cream of mushroom soup. The guacamole sauce on the flauta wasn’t very good either. I don’t think we will be coming back here. Then after we were done eating we had to just get up and stand at the register to get our check after we had asked for it and they never brought it. As you can see in the picture, they weren’t that busy, so no idea where our waitress was.

Do not get the Chile relleno burrito. It had the least amount of cheese I have ever experienced in my whole life!.. I asked for no beans but rice instead and I pretty much ate a rice burrito. My lunch was ruined :'(

The food was bad. Enchilada is never flat corn tortillas with a little bit of cheese in between. My chimichanga was filled with potatoes and “red meat.” Pretty close to inedible. A party of 10 and nobody had anything good to say about their meal. Service was good.

It was disappointing. We had chicken tacos. The shells were the hard ones, they had regular cheddar cheese not Mexican cheese and the meat was very dry. I won’t go a second time.

WHAT HAPPENED?! I have lived in LC for 17 years and Los Compas used to be my favorite breakfast place. I recently moved to Oklahoma and when coming home to visit I was so excited to go to Los Compas to soothe my need for delicious New Mexican comfort food. Unfortunately something has changed and the quality in which the food at Los Compas is prepared was a HUGE disappointment. Though the salsa was a delicious as ever, the chips were overly fried, very hard and dark; little did we know this was foreboding of the meal to come. I ordered my usual, a Mexican Omelette with beans, an order papas and chorizo to share and my daughter ordered a bean and cheese burrito with a side of rice. When the food arrived I was disappointed to see chopped green chile inside my overcooked omelette. There was very little chile, instead of the familiar long strips along the omelette which ensure green chile in every bite. My beans were clearly microwaved and dry on the outside. I used to rave about this dish, today I didn’t finish it. The smothered burrito my daughter ordered was smothered not in green chile but in a watery green chile broth, more like soup base and very little green chile in the broth- she actually has to pile on the salsa from the chips to spice up her burritos and then had to drain her plate of broth into the salsa bowl. The papas and chorizo was just okay, though very little chorizo.
If the lower quality of food is because of rising prices, maybe just charge your customers a little more to cover the rising costs instead of allowing the quality of your food to suffer. I’m just heartbroken seeing the deteriorating quality of what used to be one of the best New Mexican restaurants in LC.

The food was amazing, (The red Powder you see there is our Carolina Reaper powder.) Everything was amazing. The salsa was perfect. Great Prices. Must go back if we ever drive in the town.

Recommended. Great eats at reasonable prices. No frills on the food, just great New Mexican style mexican, and the dacor was really nice. We were a group of 12, they had fast, friendly service. All the different dishes just at our table shows a tasty selection and variety. The burritos at the next table were awesome looking …. I’ll be returning! So should you!

If you want a nice atmosphere, pleasant staff, and really horrible food with draconian rules (nothing served Christmas, can’t change or substitute anything, hot salsa with bad chips) then this is the place for you. We were a party of three and none of our meals were very good. No flavor in the guacamole, flautas, or enchiladas. Greasy chicken fajitas with some excuse for green chile strips, and you can’t get beef and chicken, and no rice only meh beans. The tortillas and garnish were good and the service was fast, so you won’t have to wait to be disappointed. We have been casually trying Mexican restaurants in Las Cruces over the past year and sadly this food quality rates at the bottom. Hopefully the other two locations in town are better? Other reviews have noted bad food going back two years or so. Evidently there is no interest in improvement. We don’t usually put alot of stock in reviews or make many but in this case, they were really accurate. Wish we had checked them in advance!

Great crew and excellent service.. Red Chile seemed to mild… Needed more flavor. Been going to Los Compas restaurant 30 plus years at the Compres street… Tried the commerce one.. could of been better on Red Chile!
