The menu offered a well-balanced selection of dishes, all prepared to a high standard, and most importantly, everyone in the office thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The flavors were genuine and well balanced, reflecting real attention to quality.
Pricing is very reasonable and affordable, making it excellent value for money considering the taste, portions, and overall quality.
I would highly recommend this place for office lunches, group orders, or anyone looking for authentic, high-quality food delivered professionally.
I recently hosted five friends visiting from India and wanted to provide a truly authentic meal that would make them feel at home. Knowing Dev, the owner of Unavu, I was already aware of his commitment to quality, but this meal truly exceeded expectations.
Using fresh, in-house ingredients and hand-ground spices makes a world of difference. Our table was filled with excitement over the genuine “home-style” flavor of every dish. We ordered several items—including the Biryani, Chicken Tikka, Saag Paneer, Naan and plenty of Samosas—and everything was seasoned to perfection. You can request specific heat levels, and the traditional spice we ordered was spot on.
Baltimore has many Indian restaurants, but Unavu is a step above. Whether you’re placing a small order or looking for full catering, don’t miss this local gem!
I have lived Bengaluru for over 10 years and I have developed my south Indian taste buds in the city. When I heard about Unavu, I jumped with joy having a south Indian restaurant a mile away from my home.
Ambur chicken biriyani- Packed flavour and where it did not disappoint was the heat and spice level. Felt true Indian level spice after a long time.
But, this was not ambur style biriyani but a thalapakati or a regular chennai style biriyani drawing fragrance and flavours from methi leaves and black cardamom. The fried chicken instead of chicken cooked in the raw spices did not help at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the biriyani though!
Dosa with chicken curry: Chicken curry was prepared with Chettinad masala. Loved it. Perfectly complimented the dosas.
Unavu is take-out place only, there is no seating available. The order and pick up process was easy, and the wait time since placing the order was great – about 20 minutes.
The food was ok, but our expectations were higher than reality. Don’t get me wrong – the food was good, but I’d rate it as average.
I had a masala dosa which was nice and crispy, but there was very little filling in it. My husband had a shredded paratha which was ok to me, but underwhelming to my husband. We also tried chili gobi which was good.
The spice levels were all over the place – the highest spice level that we chose was not the most spicy meal out of our order. One of the medium level spiciness was the most spicy and the other medium was the least spicy of all.
The food was pretty pricey. 19$ for a masala dosa is a lot, especially for a place that is take-out only.
